  1. Wolf can hit, though!!! Use him as a late-inning pinch hitter?
  2. Eric Arnett here. He can't get much worse, and I don't think expectations are real high for him, so anything positive he does will be surprising.
  3. Agreed. And you have to take some calculated gambles. The next couple of years, the Central looks wide open, so why not go for it? And all of the pieces fell into place. Both the Jays and Royals could have said no the Brewers' offers, but they didn't, the trades were made and we move forward. I'm cool with the farm being barren of top caliber talent for the next couple of years if it means 2-3 Central titles, NL Championships and WS titles. Or something close to that!
  4. Noooo!!!! But, it's a good thing there's about 50 catchers in camp.
  5. How horrible of a person am I, that when I saw the title, wanted to scream out WOO-HOO!!!! I know, I'm awful. And I hope that it's nothing serious for Wainwright and he'll bounce back, but it sure helps the Brewers this year.
  6. Baseball writers hold grudges. Serious grudges. If Mr gold tooth GS were to get in the HOF, it will probably 15 years minimum.
  7. Hey, at least the D-Backs will be interesting!
  8. I'm in San Antonio, and I think it would be a possibility, people here live under this absurd notion that we're going to get a football team. No way, no how on that one. I think if they built a baseball stadium in New Braunfels or San Marcos, halfway between SA and Austin, a baseball team could definitely be a possibility. But it probably won't happen.
  9. As much as I would like to see Prince re-sign, you have internal options in either Hart or Gamel. Pitching HAS to be the priority. One or both of Greinke/Marcum has to be signed. First base is a position that can be easily replaced. Pitching is not so easy.
  10. I think this is fantastic! Now, if Marcum and Grienke (or at least one of the two) can be signed long term, maybe there's a shot at getting Prince. Anyway, there sure seems to be lots of hope for non-Bucks Wisconsin sports teams!
  11. Yes. But old habits die hard. For many previous years, since we knew the team would be awful, the sport was to see who would be the best of the worst and the worst of the worst.
  12. I hate and envy you It truly sucks for me to live in Wisconsin since i despise both fall and winter. I'd seriously be willing to consider letting someone cut off say my pinkie finger with a pair of garden shears if i could live in a place like San Diego if my daughter, family, and friends were there also. Then I won't tell you that after waking up yesterday to really cold temps and snow and ice, it is 64 right now and I am about to fire up the grill to throw some chicken on. Although we may possibly get more snow next week. I'll believe it when I see it!
  13. Classiest offseason move the Pooholes' made.
  14. Yeah, my kid sister who lives in Tampa said it was 72 there today....she was cold. I wasn't too happy with her.
  15. Eh, I'm not excited, but I'm not saddened by the move. I mean, the likelihood of Mercedes making the MLB roster was pretty low. It probably would have been better for a minor league deal, but after getting Marcum and Greinke this winter, DM gets a wait and see on this one in my eyes.
  16. I cried. And then I laughed because I knew how much the rest of the country was laughing at San Antonio and the state of Texas. We are wusses when it comes to snow, but we definitely know how to handle the heat! And then I remembered that I'll be firing up the grill tomorrow night, so life is good.
  17. It snowed less than an inch and we got a bunch of ice. Everything is shut down. Should get above freezing by noon. It is a skating rink. But, tomorrow the high is predicted to be 60, so I'm happy with that.
  18. I could cry. It may snow in San Antonio tonight. It was almost 80 on Sunday. It's been freezing cold all week. The good news is that by Sunday, it will be back up to the mid-60s, but I will cry if I see snow on the ground in the morning.
  19. We've got strong winds and REALLY cold temperatures (I think) for Texas, and we're on the southern boundary of this bad boy. Stay safe and be careful out there!!
  20. I just saw a tweet that Zaun signed with the Padres. Good to see that the dude abides
  21. I thought he was famous for being the guy that Ryne Sandberg was named after.
  22. I am SOOOOO excited to see them coming to Houston 3 times this year. I am going in April when they're in town. The last 2 years, I couldn't because of my schedule, and they were in Houston for weekday series. Now, Friday, Saturday, Sunday series. Awesome!
  23. In my crystal ball.....I see........Mat Gamel.......wearing a uniform.....and a hat........carrying a bat.....hitting a baseball.....wearing a glove.......as for where, it's a bit cloudy.
  24. Crud! I'm not surprised, but we still have Zach Greinke and Shawn Marcum.....so I guess the no sandwich pick is a little more palatable.
