  1. I'd love a shot at the Sheets' Ball. I always felt he got a bad rap in Milwaukee. He made baseball watchable for a lot of years when no one else did!
  2. Sheet of cards and team photo claimed.
  3. Playoff tickets are claimed.
  4. When I purchased the game worn Mat Gamel jersey last year from Huntsville they sent along a bunch of items as additional souvenirs. I was going through my stuff today and was going to throw this all away - but I figured I would see if anyone here wanted them. The catch is that I live in West Bend. And I really don't want to go through the effort of mailing these, so you would have to come pick them up. 1. Two uncut sheets of the 2008 Huntsville Stars trading cards 2. Four 2008 Huntsville Star team photos 3. My unused 2008 Brewers Playoff tickets. (Obviously the entire league champsionship and world series are still there) 4. 2008 Huntsville Team Program (I like this, but if anyone wanted it for $5 - I guess I would part with it) 5. Six "sheets" of 5 uncut cards. Each includes one "star" player. (Cain, Salome, Brantley, Gamel, Escobar x 2 ) Nothing special. But I thought someone might want something before I throw it out. Message me if interested. (Edit: Added #5 - found later)
  5. The good news is that Brewer fans (at least those who post on Brewerfan.net) understand the economics of baseball very well. The bad news is that it often creates unrealistic expectations on players when they sign a big contract. Riske was never a great player. He was just an above average reliever who has run into some health issues. I think calling him a "prize" free agent is a stretch. I've never expected much from Riske, so I am not disappointed. Although, I admit I like his attitude regarding his performance.
  6. It sounds like waivers. I actually think the Brewers feel as though they might get to keep him. He really is a non-prospect. If he ends up in the minor leagues, he might as well say in Milwaukee were he has friends and a possible opening in CF next year. Unless of course San Diego is interested.
  7. The best thing about losing Branyan and CC is that now neither of them can taint their amazing 2008 season. Without those two, the Brewers never would have made the playoffs. I'll always remember them fondly. Well said FTJ.
  8. Lawrie, Gamel, Escobar, Cain and Jeffress don't have to live up to the expectations of Fielder and Weeks. The Brewers can sign the current players that are special to long term deals. The minor league players will simply be the next wave to help fill in when the current roster is lacking. And I doubt we are just going to lose Hardy or Fielder. We will at least get two very high draft picks - and quite possibly a bounty of players in a trade. A lot of average MLB players playing for the minimum salary is a VERY good thing. (That way we can avoid paying Looper $5 million, Suppan $14 million and Counsell $1 million)
  9. Why do all cycling jerseys have advertisements all over them? I understand that if you are a professional, you sell those spots to sponsors. But you can't even go buy a plain cycling shirt can you?
  10. Thanks a lot jwill - lots of good input. Everyone has kinda had the same point - don't do it. And that removal is expensive. Well, if a $150,000 house is selling for $100,000 because of the mold - it might still be a good deal. Does anyone know how much it actually costs? (I mean, obviously the costs varies - I am just looking for a range) The house I was looking at was on the market for less than a week. It was marked down significantly because of mold. But apparently someone thought it was worth the trouble given its short stay on the market.
  11. My wife and I are contemplating buying a home. (we still love our small rent payments) Anyways, I've seen quite a few with a disclaimer that mold has been found on the premises. Some have significant mold infestations - other, it seems very remote. In our apartment, we will see mold from time to time start to form on the ceiling in the bathroom. (We don't use our exhaust fan nearly enough) We just spray some cleaning stuff on it and clear it up. So my question is - how big of a problem is mold in a house? Can you just tear down the drywall and put up new drywall? Do you have to get some fungicide sprayed to clean out the house? I am obviously not about to buy a mold infested house - just looking for a little preliminary research to see what I am dealing with. I appreciate anyone who is willing to chime in on the subject.
  12. I'm shocked they have Friday games available.
  13. About 12 years ago at my high school that was a huge fad. I swear, every sentence had at least one "stuff" in it - followed by an "and stuff". Man. Teenagers are dumb. (If you take offense to that, don't worry - you are dumb right now. In a few years, it won't bother you anymore!)
  14. I feel bad for athletes. The truth is, being lazy holds 99% of the world back from accomplishing their goals in life. To come so close to your dream, only to have factors that are almost 100% out of your control (Injuries) prevent you from reaching your dream... Man. That just must suck.

  20. I've never read anything. But after seeing the movie tonight, my wife and I both left with that impression. I enjoyed it, but never became emotionally involved with any of the characters. It certainly seemed like they had to leave out a lot to keep the plot moving. The opening sequence with Dylan playing was fantastic.
  21. Wisconsin too. The enacted laws like this to protect the other person. You don't want the husband getting mad at her for calling the police and really beating her after they leave. Hence, someone is taken into custody for a "cooling down" period.
  22. Lo Cain. Unreal. Two walks might be the best part of his performance. If he has anything other than "Low" by Flo Rider as his walk-up song, I will be disappointed.
  23. I'm not a Bob Dylan guy. But every time I hear a song of his - I'm amazed at his lyrics. Dylan is to lyrics was Shakespeare was to theatre.
