  1. I believe Lawrie has extensive experience with a wood bat. Actually, I believe it was his performance in an all wood bat league that vaulted him into the national spotlight. (But then, I've been wrong before)
  2. My ticket rep mentioned a "few dollar" per ticket increase in the terrace reserve for next season. I would imagine all ticket prices will go up at least 10%, with some increases near 20%. That would give the Brewers a lot more income as well.
  3. My wife and I are married for 4 years - lived together for around 7. We have never used the same blankets. It makes an amazing difference. We have a king size bed - so we each have plenty of room. We have a fan always going at night. (She wants the noise, and I am completely use to it) The noise makes it very easy to sleep together. Plus without tugging on blankets, we can cuddle when we want - and retreat to our own halves when it is time to sleep.
  4. Very cool Doorman. Very cool. My wife loves you. She looks for you at every game. And when you aren't in the house - she wonders why.
  5. Cole Gillespie sells for $350. (2 jerseys) Michael Brantley sells for $325. (2 jerseys) Talk about little love for Brantley
  6. Bunch of teases. I think Escobar takes the top spot.
  7. I heard a few updates about Munson about a month back. He was still rehabbing with the Brewers at that time.
  8. Putting Riske and Gagne in the same group is insulting to Riske. Gagne has a 6.80 ERA. Let me say that again, he has a 6.80 ERA!!! That is the most rediculously awful ERA ever for a pitcher playing a significant role for a September contending team. Gagne might not even be an MLB pitcher next year. Stetter and Dillard really need to step up.
  9. Escobar hit fantastic all season at AA against some tough competition. He also played with the big boys for most of Spring Training and held his own quite nicely. You might be right - but I don't think you can say with 100% certainty that Escobar is not ready for MLB pitching.
  10. I am dumbfounded by the idea of taking a quality OF in Hart - and moving him to the easiest defensive position on the diamond. That make no sense. Hart hasn't played in the infield in years. Gamel still plays in the in field and since many of his errors are throwing - would be a pretty big improvement from Prince defensively. And Gamel isn't exactly short either - He looks around 6'2" or so.
  11. Wow - those clocks are going to start ticking on those players right way. The Brewers were not kidding when they said they were "going for it". Worst case, Gamel and Salome provide better PH opportunities than Counsell and Nix. I doubt Escobar would play much - as his bat isn't quite as advanced as Salome and Gamel - but he is great insurance in case something happens to Hardy. Escobar starting at SS >> Counsell starting at SS. I am giddy about Gamel.
  12. I have been for about a month now. Jack Z is great at drafting hitters who can't field...I am not so sure his forte is drafting pitchers.
  13. Man, all my excitement about Gamel and I forgot about Iribarren. Very odd he didn't receive a call as Durham has been nursing an injury, he can play OF, and he runs about as well as Gwynn. But, choosing between Gamel and Hernan - I think Gamel certainly has a better chance of helping the club.
  14. Gamel is really a surprise to me since Doug said they wouldn't call anyone up just to sit on the bench. But I am thrilled to see him get his shot. Here is hoping that Doug has no intentions of him sitting on the bench. (Honestly, he should be able to match Counsell's production quite easily)
  15. Since when does Mel Stocker play 2B? I also assumed Captain Lou was going to take the rest of the year off from catching on account of recovering from his injury. Pena might be the biggest disappointment in the farm system this year.
  16. I'd really love to know what the Brewers need to see from Gamel to deserve a September 1st call-up. I mean, one week in Nashville isn't a lot of time to see how he handles a little more "advanced" pitching.
  17. Suppose Brantley was going to be the choice... Why wouldn't the Brewers call him up in September and use him as a PR and back-up 1B for Prince? We wouldn't care about starting his arbitration clock.
  18. My last two games were Kapler's walk off home run and JJ's game winning hit today. I feel as those games have aged me significantly - as they had very frustrating moments. But man, were the end results worth the wait!
  19. As noted in the minor league forum... Gamel was promoted to AAA. Might be just to get a taste of AAA before next season - but could also indicate the Brewers are considering a call-up.
  20. From today's Journal Sentinel... "We'll sit down and talk about that," said Melvin. "If there's a role, I'm going to use them. I'm not going to bring up guys just to hang out. Players at (Class AA) Huntsville will be considered, too." I would think if Gamel gets the call, he would take away Counsell's starts at 3B.
  21. Best of luck to Gamel. Very interesting move. I didn't think he would have a shot at MLB this year - but I wonder if this move indicates that the Brewers are considering him as a September call-up. (The Brewers 3B play this year has really been horrible) Of course, it is also possible they just want to try and jump start him a little as he has struggled at Huntsville since the LaPorta trade. (Ala a Brent Brewer bump) If Gamel gets a September call-up, I would think Escobar and Salome would also get one. (I has assumed none of them would) Escobar at least has the advantage of playing plenty of games with the MLB club in Spring Training. Edit: Upon further review, Gamel is probably better than Counsell or Hall at 3B and would make the Brewers a better team. He would be a step down defensively, but his LH bat and power would be a pretty large jump over Hall and Counsell. If the Brewers are "going for it", a September call-up would make quite a bit of sense.
  22. I do not envy Josh. Being an agent seems like a pretty rough lifestyle.
  23. Huntsville kinda left Brae Wright out to dry tonight. 7 innings pitched. 10 hits, 8 r, 7 er - and 3 HR. He never really had a blow up inning - just constantly in trouble. Why let him go 7 IP - are they short in the pen?
  24. I hate the waiver wire trading deadline.
  25. He obviously doesn't know with two strikes you can't take a home run swing!
