  1. I think that is the only reason the Brewers would trade JJ Hardy. Moving JJ to 3B make plenty of sense - but frankly, it is much harder to find a SS who can hit 25 HR and play good defense than it is to find a 3B who can hit 25 HR and play good defense. If Escobar is the real deal, it might make sense to trade Hardy for a LH hitter who plays 3B and has a good OBP.
  2. I would imagine some of these seats are left overs that they were saving for "2009 season ticket" sales.
  3. I can't imagine anyone at Miller Park on September 28th, 2008 regretting this trade. Ever. That day alone was worth it for me.
  4. Escobar's ceiling is Jose Reyes. We don't have anyone who really projects to David Wright's ceiling. They are both fantastic players - but Wright would be far more usefull to the Brewers. That said, this was PURELY a suggestion of a local NY writer. I would be shocked if the Mets broke up Wright/Beltran/Reyes.
  5. Consider me called out! Do you think Sveum would want someone with more experience than him on the bench? I mean, is there any concern that it would mitigate some of his power/influence over the clubhouse?
  6. I am assuming that Dale Sveum will be the Brewers Head Coach in 2009. However, with Robin Yount leaving the team as Bench Coach before the 2008 season - I am assuming he won't be committed for a full season in 2009. I'd like to put my nominees in early - Jeff Cirillo or Gabe Kapler (Only if we add a LH bat as a reserve OF and don't need Kapler anymore) Any other ideas?
  7. Losing those draft picks would really hurt. This significantly increases the chance of Sheets being a Milwaukee Brewer next year.
  8. I think you just linked to Braun's player stats. Here are the Milwaukee Brewers. Compare CC to Sheets and Yovani. I am amazed at how great Sabathia is.
  9. I guess that depends on how the Brewers feel about Escobar as well. In case of a long-term injury, Escobar would likely be the back-up SS. This year we needed Counsell as we had no SS even remotely MLB ready in the system. If Escobar is ready, you are really using Heether as a back-up 3B and 2B.
  10. I heard "My Hero" by Foo Fighters on the way home last night from the game. For me, that song will forever be associated with Ryan Braun. I've always like "Numb/Encore" by Jay-Z and Linkin Park as a great team song. How about "Wake Me When September Ends"?
  11. Anyone know how to order a photo from the JSonline.com I want a nice big copy of this picture to frame...

  13. Just watching the game from yesterday again on TV. Corey swung at 3 straight balls after the pitcher had just walked the batter in front of him on 4 pitches. After swinging at the first pitch (and missing), Durham, on 3rd base, gave Corey the "calm down" motion with his hands. Very interesting.
  14. Abso-freaking-lutely! Without Russell Branyan, this team never goes on the June tear that puts them close enough to acquire CC Sabathia. Russell Branyan's June saved the season. No doubt.
  15. I won the lottery as well and got some SRO seats. I signed up to pick them up at Will-Call. Does anyone know if I can pick these up at any point before the game? I'd love to get them sooner rather than have to worry about it on gameday.
  16. Brantley really seemed like a logical 2010 CF. It definitely hurts to lose him - however, right now nothing can drag me down. Nothing.
  17. I'm under the assumption this will never end. Cleveland's PTBNL will be decided sometime in 2024!
  18. Ben Sheets was amazing this year. 31 starts. 198.1 innings. 3.09 ERA. 1.15 WHIP. He may have had some dings - but we don't sniff the playoffs without him. There isn't a pitcher in the NL that wouldn't be happy with those numbers. It is a shame he suffered through so much bad Milwaukee Brewers baseball (while pitching 230 innings!) only to miss our playoffs. A giant THANKS goes out to Ben this evening.
  19. Hmm... What about May 1, 2008 against the Cubs? Yovani goes down with a torn ACL. Comes back to keep pitching. Braun doubles in the 9th inning as the Brewers score three runs to win 4-3. I mean, the next day I wanted to cry when we found out Yovani was seriously hurt. But that was a very exciting game - albeit at Wrigley Field.
  20. I can't believe I forgot to include Sheets 18 K game. Definitely a top 10. It really helps that the game was played in Milwaukee as well.
  21. Honestly, I don't care when actors/celebrities die. But Paul Newman was an amazing human being. He certainly played his role in leaving this world a better place.
  22. Dude, dishwasher - and it's not even close. It does a fantastic job.
  23. My brother and I were discussing the best Brewer games since 1982 - and we couldn't come to an agreement. So I thought I would throw it to the board and see what everyones take is on the situation, and perhaps they can throw in a game we are overlooking. Ryan Braun Grand Slam Walk Off Brewers battling for the playoff spot. Heroic return by Yovani Gallardo. Eric Gagne purchases 5,000 tickets to help fill the stadium. Perhaps the most significant game because of the playoff implications. Easter Sunday 1987 Brewers had started the season 11-0. They trailed 4-1 entering the 9th inning. Rob Deer blasted a huge 3 run HR over the left field fence to tie the game. Two batters later Dale Sveum went deep with a two run homer to win the game and push the Brewers to a 12-0 start. Juan Nieves No Hitter Only days before the Easter Sunday miricle, Juan Nieves throws the Brewers only no hitter at Baltimore. Being the only no-hitter in Brewers history, this game has to be considered. I argued that I think Braun's walk off grand slam might have been the best Brewer game ever. 1987 was a magical year (With Molitor's hitting streak as well), but I think it loses some of the charm on account of the fact we missed the playoffs. In addition, both the Easter Sunday and No Hitter were in April - not exactly September baseball. I am obviously giving a lot of weight to playoff/pressure implications. Anyone have any other games that they think should be rated above those three games?
  24. His swing looked pretty long and slow last night.
