  1. I'm officially adding Wooten to my radar.
  2. Scarpetta with 5 innings tonight. 2 hits. No walks. 10 strikeouts. Wow. Guess he thought he should have been rated higher on the Power 50!
  3. I was wondering when dadofbrantley was going to chime in! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Until Brantley reached MLB, this argument will never be settled.
  4. Nope. You are apparently wrong. In a surprising move, the Red Sox put Manny Ramirez up for grabs, placing the All-Star outfielder on irrevocable waivers last night, according to the websites of The New York Times and the Boston Herald. Unlike regular waivers, the Red Sox cannot pull Ramirez back if he is claimed. If he is not claimed, Boston will keep him, but can try to trade him. Boston.com ESPN.com Article NY Times So Manny got more crazy. With less money owed to him. And now they were able to get Jason Bay for him.
  5. I guess Huntsville was better off performing before the trade deadline than after.
  6. Do you have any articles or links to back that up? I am about 90% sure they were just trying to get out of his contract. Today, $20 million a year for a player of Manny's ability seems reasonable. But it was more than he was worth a few years back.
  7. I think the Brewers needed this slap in the face. The Cubs are better. The Brewers need to step it up to really compete with this team. I feel the Brewers learned a lot about themselves in this series.
  8. A few years back Boston put Manny on waivers. (A few times) Anyone could have had him for free at that time. No one took him because Manny was a little too crazy. Since that time Manny has gotten more crazy. And Boston - who couldn't give him away a few years back - turned him into Jason Bay! Boston did very well.
  9. I know Lawrie playing in the Olympics hurts... But so far I have been underwhelmed with our 2008 draft class. I was really hoping some of the pitchers would show a little more.
  10. The Dodgers really needed more outfielders.
  11. It's because he is a contact hitter who often fails to make contact. He has a decent walk rate in MiLB - but that doesn't translate long term to MLB. Why would any pitcher walk a player who doesn't have the ability to hit a ball out of the park? I hear you on Weeks - but his potential is 10 times greater than Gwynn. All things equal, you might as well keep potential.

  16. I expect the Brewers to pick-up Cameron's option. There are unlikely to be any better options with less risk that 1-year and $10 million.

  21. I've seen Braun make a lot of poor plays in the outfield. Fukudome's triple is not an isolated incident. Braun takes a lot of risks and dives at a lot of balls that he doesn't need to. He also routinely skips the cutoff man to go for the perfect throw home. He usually misses by a mile and the batter ends up on second base instead of first base. I doubt he ever wins a gold glove.
  22. Thanks for the updates Battlekow. (BTW - I love the new avatar)
  23. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Nelson Cruz was unable to handle the breaking pitches. (At least that was the justification when we traded him. You can't play in MLB if you can't hit a curve)
