  1. 2 Year for 8.5 Million and an option for a 3rd year Didn't he initially turn down 3 years and 21 million from the Giants? Ouch. That is a pretty reasonable contract. I like Cameron with Bill Hall moving to 3B better. But I could have lived with Feliz at that price.
  2. Honestly, the scariest part of the Cubs possibly adding Roberts is that they will move Soriano down in the lineup.
  3. I'm going with Reyes. Ramirez is an absolute stud on offense. But if he was in NY, more people would also pay attention to how poor of a defender he is. Since he plays for Florida, no one really cares. It's very close though. I guess I prefer Reyes because after watching the Brewers this past season - I value defense a little more now.
  4. Guilty. Project Runways is a really cool show. Honestly, I don't care at all about fashion. But watching these people create things - well, its just really neat. Be it clothes or anything, watching someone create something from scratch is pretty cool. Top Chef doesn't do it for me because you only "see" the food instead of "tasting" it.
  5. Between adjusting the interest rates, economic stimulus packages and helping out potential foreclosures - the government is always jumping in to try and stop a recession. The problem is that it is often at the expense of good future economic planning. We keep mortgaging tomorrow for today. At some point, you just have to accept that an economy can't go up forever. People spent too much money on artificially inflated homes. Etc. Sometimes you have to just live with a downturn and let the situation correct itself instead of always pumping the quick fix.
  6. I can usually stand it, because you can see naked man out of the corner of your eye and avoid looking any further. But the other day, I did the "quick rounding of a corner" and bumped to an old naked man. Not cool. Not cool at all.
  7. Didn't you hear? The Brewers signed Cameron to play CF. They are moving Bill Hall to 3B. Ryan Braun is the new LF. Everything is fixed. What else is everyone going to talk about until spring training?
  8. Do you know if Mat is going to be available for any of the autograph sessions?
  9. Add another convert to the Dark Side! If our options are... Gross/Dillon in LF & Braun at 3B or Dillon at 3B & Braun in LF Sign me up for the second choice. Plus, we would need a nice steady back-up for Dillon. *Cirillo*
  10. Gwynn isn't good enough to start. If Dillon is getting any starts - it should be at 3B. Moving Braun to the OF and starting Dillon at 3B makes way more sense.
  11. This is just me - but Bedards injury history doesn't scare me as much as Ben's. Tommy John surgery isn't nearly as big of a deal as it used to be. Where as Ben's could be indicative of poor conditioning/work ethic. Bedard also pitched 196 innings two years ago. He pitched 182 this past year before he was shut down early. He would have been able to continue pitching - but with the Orioles long out of the playoff race they didn't want to tax his sore arm anymore. Of course, maybe the Orioles are shopping Bedard because they are concerned about his injury history. If he was 100% healthy, I just can't fathom why Baltimore wouldn't try and keep him.
  12. Bedard is way, way more valueable than Sheets. Bedard has better all around numbers. Bedard is younger. Bedard is signed for the next two years. Bedard is pitching in the AL against the Yankees and Red Sox. Bedard doesn't have the injury history of Sheets. I think folks around here really overvalue Sheets. Sheets wouldn't get us Bailey straight up.
  13. By "the baggage" do you mean - "any major league success"? McClung has simliar stuff and has never been successful. Turnbow has had several spans of brilliance in his career.
  14. That is a ton to give up. As much as people dislike Turnbow, he isn't a throw in player at all. He would get $5m on the open market. Capuano was a former all-star. While he may not be an ace - he is worthy of a #3 pitcher. Gwynn is coveted by a few teams as a lead-off batter/CF. And Gamel is a very legit prospect. (He may not play defense yet - but he can swing the bat better than anyone in our system not names LaPorta) Not to mention, we are full of relief pitchers. I would be very disappointed to lose all of that to aquire Blalock.
  15. • The Orioles and Dodgers may be close on a deal that will send left-hander Erik Bedard to Los Angeles, a baseball source said. The O's are in need of a center fielder and a closer who can play at the major league level, and the Dogders seem willing to part with outfielder Matt Kemp and reliever Jonathan Broxton, who could come in a close in lieu of Chris Ray, out for the year after Tommy John surgery. "They want Bedard bad," said the source. ESPN.com I posted this in the Sheets/Dodgers thread. But it seemed relevant here as well.
  16. Yeah...but can he hit like Gamel! (See avatar) In all honesty, it will be interesting to see what the Brewers do with Gamel and Taylor at 3B. Of course, I suppose a lot of that depends on how Braun plays in MLB. Tyson is a very exciting player in my opinion. Lots of strikeouts. Lots of groundballs. I would think he might have a chance to get fast tracked as a relief pitcher. Between Brantly, Cain & Ford - some of those OF are going to end up in other organizations. (Remember that Braun might move to the OF & Gamel might need to as well someday) We also have Gillespie and Gindl. That is a lot of quality OF prospects.
  17. If we were able to get Riske and Franklin (In the Rolen deal), we wouldn't really need any extra bullpen arms. If they were willing to take Vargas for Scott I would do it in a second. Scott as a 4th outfielder has more value to me than Vargas as the long reliever. (In other words, I would see no reason to trade Bill Hall)
  18. Change of scenery. Why did Texas give us Shouse? Sometimes guys get caught in a numbers crunch. Sometimes an entire fan base turns on them and it is time to move on. (Mota was getting killed in the NY press) And I don't think anyone is saying Mota is "so valuable" - rather than he has some value. I would rather spend 3 million for one year on a guy with potential, than 12 million over 3 years in the free agent market for about the same player.
  19. Seems like a really good trade for both sides. We move Braun to LF. (Problem fixed) We put Rolen at 3B (Defense fixed) And we add another RP (With Riske, problem fixed) I really think Capuano will rebound this year. But his salary is going up, and we have Villanueva, Parra and Gallardo for the future. So at some point he will move on. Mench isn't worth much to me. (Especially with an OF of Hall, Hart and Braun) And Gwynn seems like a great kid - but I can't stand his game. (A singles hitter who strikes out)
  20. I love this trade for the Nationals. Milledge has by far the heighest ceiling. They weren't going to compete anytime soon. That said, it is hard to blame the Mets. Milledge needed a change of scenery. If this was the best they could get for him - so be it. Estrada. Wow. He might be out of baseball this year.
  21. Kinda sad to see Miller go. It's hard to argue with the move - as our other options could likely do the same work with the potential to improve. (Althought how many back-up catchers can have 11 RBIs over the span of two games! If only every day was "La Crosse Day") I would imagine he could catch on with someone else. But I think he will retire. Miller was a class act.
  22. Just wanted to add another kudos to Brian. That was classic.
  23. Thanks for the in site southpaw. Can I ask how hard blisters are to prevent? I mean, if you made your living as a pitcher - are there steps you can take to help prevent them from forming? Can't you just rough up your finger tips during the off-season so they are a little callused, making it harder to blister?
  24. Honestly, you are probably right. But that isn't how a professional athlete's mind works. Bill Hall thinks he can help his team win - because he believes in himself. I would expect him to push himself to return early to the field. In my opinion, that decision needs to be made with the help of the trainers and coaching staff. Bill is going to do anything he can to get on the field. If he isn't ready - they need to slow him down.
  25. I don't have a link to the quote - but I am 90% sure that Ned said he wanted him taking 1000 balls a day. And not picking up a bat until February (or something like that) I am sure it is an exaggeration - but you get the idea.
