  1. Trenni said something along the lines of that would make the Brewers 2 for 2 in appeals. Was that this season and what exactly is she talking about?
  2. What was Uecker's take post-game and what is the 1250-AM crew having to say about it?
  3. Unreal ruling. I DVR'd the game and replayed it back. When Sabathia "muffs" the ball, the runner is about 40-45ft down the line.
  4. The 2nd of 12 teams the Brewers need to eliminate in the Wild Card chase could fall tomorrow. San Diego, I'm looking at you! Overall magic number down to 22.
  5. I think I already see a wobble to the west here and there. I'm going to guess landfall at Port Arthur making New Orleans mostly a rain event.
  6. The outflow in all four quadrants developing so quickly is what is amazing. The Cuba landscape is doing little to break up or disorganize the eye and eyewall. It should also be noted that the forward speed has picked up a bit. A bit of a double edge sword as if it slows down the waters near the coast get a bit cooler, yet the rain would linger longer. My favorite site is www.hurricanealley.net I like looking at the spaghetti models and diciphering why each model came up with the conclusion they did based on fronts and pressure systems, etc.
  7. There must have been some confusion over the words "live draft". It looks like this won't get done.
  8. Not me. We already took 2 of 3 at Shea this season. I like the CC vs Santana matchup and every matchup thereafter. You'd rather face Victorrino, Utley, Howard, etc? Give me David Wright, Beltran, and an aging Delgado any day.
  9. I don't think so. I realize this was said two weeks ago, but ARZ's pitching is just too strong and far and away better than LAD. Manny Ramirez's 100ab's won't change that.
  10. I hope the Cubs beat the Phillies today. I've always looked at what STL and the NL East2 do before the Cubs. I hope the Cubs and Brewers get their spots solidified as soon as possible. Get our rotation in order and rest up for the playoffs. Anybody who is still holding out hope for an NL Central Title, god bless you.
  11. Live draft, not online.
  12. Alright, let's try and do this. The page has been set at sports.yahoo.com/fantasy. The league id is 604679 and the password is Brewers The following league rules will apply. 1) The draft will be held Sunday evening at TGI Fridays at Miller Park at 7:00pm. I will then enter the results on the team page by Monday afternoon. 2) The entry fee will be $25.00 and winnings will be returned 100% w/ prize pool to be determined upon number of teams (10 or 12) 3) The roster will be as follows; 2 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB), 1 Kicker, 1 defense, and 6 bench. 4) The drafting order will be determined by a blind draw once you arrive at the restaurant. Drafting will follow standard snake procedure with last pick in round picking first in adjacent round and so-forth. 5) You will have a transaction limit of 25 moves per season. Additional moves will be allowed at $1.00 per transaction which will be placed into the prize pool. 6) No-cut lists will not apply. 7) Trades will be reviewed by league vote. 8) The rights to a pick can be traded to another team as long as the deal is fair in the amount of players/picks and if you currently hold the rights to that player. For example, Tom Brady and your 3rd round pick for Peyton Manning and that team's 2nd round pick. You'd then have Peyton Manning and two 2nd round picks, but no 3 round picks and no Tom Brady. Or prior to any drafting, you trade your #1 overall and 7th rounder for the #6 overall and a 3rd rounder. You will be required to pick 17 players, no more, no less. We won't stop the draft to make time for negotiations, so bargain in advance of the pick reaching your location. I'm not going to keep a stopwatch per pick and there will be ample time (1-2 mins or so) for you to consider each pick. However we aren't going to engage in 5 minutes of negotiations over trading picks. If you are going to do it, have it ready prior to your turn to pick. 9) Standard scoring will apply. No receptions or carry points. 10) Please respond with your intention to participate ASAP.
  13. Not to burst a bubble, but I'm pretty sure he didnt physically take the time to switch the balls himself. He signs a bunch of balls pre-season & mid-season and then gives them to his personal assistant. When she gets the mail, she just sticks one of the pre-signed balls in the return envelope and voila! While it's a nice thought, the reason you got a different ball back was because he wasn't available to sign the one you sent. Hence, he probably never seen the ball you sent, didn't personally take the time to switch it himself. But atleast you got an item back.
  14. I am going to hold a light hit-around and some infield practice at Hales Corners park tomorrow morning at 11am. It is located just to the north of Janesville Rd and 116th St. Anybody else attending?
  15. There were certainly be a lot of pressure on the Cubs to make the World Series at a minimum. Winning 100+ games is absolutely a worthless season, a complete waste of an entire 6 months if they fail to make it out of the first round. That's a lot of pressure on a ballclub and I fully expect them to fold miserably as usual.
  16. but how far outta the area is Tropacana? Just because of the nature of the peninsula and the bridges, coupled with rush hour traffic, it's not a distance thing, but a time thing. Businessmen who work the 9-5 in downtown, can't get from downtown Tampa to downtown St. Petersburg by 7:00pm, let alone drive east to the Tampa suburbs to pick up your family and then all the way back by 7:00pm. Day games are probably no excuse, but how many games are day games in St. Pete, 15%? Driving 90 minutes from FondDuLac to Milwaukee is a completly different animal than driving 2 hours to make it 30 miles. Nobody likes sitting in 2 hours in traffic to attend a 2.5 hours baseball game. I think the article summed it up pretty well. The stadium location plays a very big role in the attendance.
  17. The Cubs get the worst seed of teams not in their division, so it would be Cubs/D-Backs and Brewers/Mets
  18. I got into the poker craze when NL Texas Holdem and the WSOP popularity grew about 8 years ago. I used to do a lot of home games in Florida, but hadn't done anything yet since moving back. I was going through Fall cleaning and dusted off the old clay chip set and wondered how many BF.net users are still into poker and might be interested in hosting or attending some home games. I usually kept it cheap and did it tournament style but would do pot limit games as well if anybody is interested.
  19. I sent BrewCrew00 a message. The season starts Thursday, so we need to have a draft plan in place, I would think by this evening. If he doesn't respond back by this evening, I'll set it up and get it going.
  20. Where are we at on this? Season starts in 6 days.
  21. I have an extra JJ bobblehead from this past Sunday. I'm not picky on the return as my collection is limited.
  22. For Sale; One (1) black Sony Playstation 2 gaming system. Comes with one controller and an 8mb memory card. It also comes with the HD connector cables if you have an HD television set as well as the regular avi cables. I am also selling it with 5 games, MLB The Show 07' , Madden 07' , Socom3 Navy Seals, Medal of Honor (European Assault), & Call of Duty Finest Hour. I'm looking at $95.00, but will entertain offers. I need to move this quickly and will post to the craigslist masses soon if I get no responses.
  23. I lived 20 minutes from Tropicana Field for over 10 years. But it's not just baseball. They are bandwagon everything and if they aren't bandwagon, they just simply don't care too much as is the case with the Rays. If the Bucs are 0-2 to start the season, the bars are empty on Sunday afternoon. A majority of people are transplants and already have a home team to watch. Couple that with being able to golf every day till 8:30-9:00 at night in the summer/early fall, fishing and other attractions and the Rays simply aren't a very big draw. Miami isn't much better. Bucks2281 made a great point about the location of Tropicana Field. The geography of the land gives the metropolitan residents of Tampa a tough time in getting to the stadium. You have to get to the St. Pete peninsula and the options are equally as bad, either take the long congested rush hours bridges or drive all the way around and still hit traffic upon getting to the stadium area. It makes for arriving at the ballpark late or at the last minute. Another reason is the amount of corporate events and suites options. Walk-up attendance can only account for so much? 3,000 maybe? The Brewers have done well with their group sales and it is the reason why attendance has done reasonably well even before the 2007 season. With so many other options for businesses and corporations to provide things for their clients (Buccaneers, Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay Lightning, TPC Golf Outings, etc) , these things take away from Rays ticket sales. It could come around, but unlikely.
