  1. I'm not tuning out yet. I have a feeling that the upcoming Phillies/Yankees World Series could be the first great WS since 2001. But, I agree. The games are interminable.
  2. The Angels have looked like the dumbest team in baseball the past two nights.
  3. I hate, hate, hate that the Angels have bunted twice in that situation.
  4. Wow, Chase Utley. That was the worst throw I've ever seen.
  5. They had them last year, too. They want to avoid overlaps during the postseason, even if it means a 10 pm ET start on a Sunday.
  6. -The first sweep in St. Louis. -Braun's GW HR against the Cubs on May 8. -The triple play on Sept. 6.
  7. I feel bad for the fans in Philadelphia. They're not going to get to go to bed until 2 or 2:30, and that's if the game only lasts 9 innings.
  8. When I was 14, I went to games with my 12 y/o brother by myself, and we were more than fine. I think the ballpark is generally a safe place, but it really depends on the kid. I'd imagine the ball is worth about 10 grand, but it could easily be worth more if he gets to 500. Agreed, I think the ball is worth suing for because there's a good chance he'll reach 500. If he does, somebody will put down some big bucks for that ball.
  9. If Bud and/or Sandy Alderson had any guts, they'd pull Phil Cuzzi from the rest of the playoffs. But we all know they won't.
  10. Not to hijack the thread, but Cole Hamels had another gem today:
  11. I officially hate the Cardinals a bit more now:
  12. How can the second largest metro area in the US not sell out a playoff game. I guarantee the Brewers could have attracted at least 56,000 fans to a postseason game.
  13. I listened to Vin Scully on XM on the way home. He said the attendance was 51000/56000. That's disappointing, imo.
  14. I sure do hate the Twins, but that game is exactly why I love baseball. For all of the excitement we saw in that dome last night, tonight's game trumped it.
  15. Yankees 3, Twins 1 Angels 3, Red Sox 2 Rockies 3, Phillies 1 Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0 Angels 4, Yankees 2 (Angels clinch the pennant at Yankee Stadium...haha) Rockies 4, Dodgers 3 (a classic postseason series that will take place after most of the country has gone to bed.) Angels 4, Rockies 2 (the Rockies put up a decent fight this time, but it won't be enough.) Themes: we'll constantly hear about the Yankees and lots of complaining about how the World Series is played during November.
  16. A great ending to an unsatisfactory season. Looking forward to April 5 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. And, Azerbaijan thinking they're going to get the Olympics this century. Most people probably don't know that Azerbaijan even exists. Birmingham did host soccer in 1996, though. On the other forum I post on, people are speculating that Philadelphia should be the frontrunner in 2020 or 2024.
  18. Those awful gang murder videos released this week probably didn't help. There's no way Madrid should win. How can a country of Spain's size get 2 Olympics in 24 years? I don't think Rio could handle the Olympics, but I hope they win it.
  19. That is just completely unacceptable and embarassing. I don't think we're going to win another game this season.
  20. The game on October 1 was a lot more fun last season. Probably more frustrating, too. Btw, looks like there's a freeze warning for Denver today and tonight.
  21. The Yankees would get the players no matter what. Even though I believe you're overestimating the prestige factor, this scenario would not be possible with a salary cap. Even a richer than rich team like the Yankees would experience restraints on spending. They couldn't necessarily buy every FA they wanted to.
  22. That was great. It was yet another situation where Macha neglected to PH for the most anemic hitter on the roster. It just happened to work out in a huge way. And, no, that's not a reason to bring him back next year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Rockies. I have faith that they can actually sell-out their playoff games, despite the paltry attendance tonight. In 2004 and 2005, I think the Braves had as many as 14,000 unsold seats to their opening NLDS games. Go Rox.
