  1. You have to take the chance and try to hope you can have CC for the playoffs. If not, you still have him for game 163. Agreed. Start CC in an elimination game. It wouldn't hurt to get him another day of rest, either. We'd all feel a lot better about CC Sabathia starting at Shea than Dave Bush.
  2. Anybody else watching the Mets vs. Brewers debate on BBTN? It's absolutely dreadful.
  3. Marlins out to an early 1-0 lead
  4. Man oh man, I'm going to be sick.
  5. Regular: Fire Joe Morgan Semi-Regular: Fire Ned Yost, Brew Crew Ball And I don't think it counts as a blog, but I enjoy Goatofthegame.com, too.
  6. Hoping some of the New Yorkers can chime in on the weather. How does it look tonight? Today and tomorrow afternoon look terrible: Fri: Overcast with rain showers at times. Low 63F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Locally heavier rainfall possible. Sat: Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High 73F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Locally heavier rainfall possible. Rain bodes well for the Brewers. If the Marlins can sink their teeth into the Mets pen, we're looking good. And, for what it's worth, I believe the Marlins hate the Mets. GO MARLINS!
  7. I thought Fernando Vina would know better. And FSN Wisconsin's picture quality on the national highlights is embarassing.
  8. Yes, and partly because I've never been here before. If Cotts, Howry, Hart, and Hill blow the game at Shea tonight, I'd be downright giddy right now. But now I feel like we're being taken to a new high and will be dropped higher and harder than ever before. Last time the Brewers played Chicago at home, they looked terrible. They had the lead for probably fifteen minutes that entire series. I'm just worried ... that's all. I hope to be celebrating with you fine people on Sunday evening.
  9. He received very modest cheers, IMO. It was embarassing.
  10. I'm still extraordinarily worried. Entering the biggest weekend of my life as a sports fan, I worry that we're going to take 1/3 and NYM will take 2/3. I keep searching for good omens -- they're abundant, but I just don't see it happening.
  11. I have faith. Pedro has been crappy lately -- if they get into that bullpen, I'll feel good about the Cubs' chances.
  12. I just purchased 2 face value tickets to Game 5 of the NLDS at Wrigley! What's a guy to do? Should I sell them and make a king's ransom, or go to the game, assuming the Brewers miss the playoffs?
  13. What a class act. Say what you will about his pitching, but he's been nothing but generous and gracious during his season in Milwaukee. I assume these are terrace seats?
  14. TBS has exclusive rights to the LDS. You are correct about the ALCS (TBS) and NLCS (FOX).
  15. I see, so if they don't make the wild card it won't be Yost's fault or Sveum's fault or the player's fault or Melvin's fault, instead it'll all be on bucks2281. I used discretion before I posted this ... but then I figured that if some Brewers fanatic posting at midnight on a message board could effect the outcome of a 6-month long playoff race ... well, it's never going to happen for the Brewers. I suppose a lot of posters have the same mentality as I do. If the improbable should happen, the games come first. Forget school, work, whatever ... I'm watching the games.
  16. I'd hate to put the cart before the horse, but TBS has released next week's playoff schedule. Wednesday, October 1: @ NL East (12:30 or 2:00 pm CT) Thursday, October 2: @ NL East (12:30 or 2:00 pm CT) Saturday, October 4: @ MIL (4:00 or 5:30 pm CT) Sunday, October 5: @ MIL (6:00 pm CT (or TBA)) Tuesday, October 7: @ NL East (4:00 or 5:30 pm CT) http://www.tbs.com/stories/story/0,,154864,00.html
  17. We control our own destiny -- it's a comforting feeling. Zach Duke is Brewer food. Let's destroy him again.
  18. When the struggles to score runs, you need to bunt. I don't think it's a good idea to call on players like Braun, Fielder, Hart, Hall, etc. to bunt when they've done absolutely no bunting all year. Why waste outs? It's hard for most guys to bunt for a base hit. This most recent slump has been a result of the ENTIRE team sucking. Bunting wouldn't have changed much over the past few series.
  19. It'll certainly be a night game -- last year's was, and MLB wouldn't want to waste any audience. I suspect it'll be 6-7 pm CT on TBS on Monday night, assuming the Mets play all of their games this week. This will get sticky if it's necessary for the White Sox to play their makeup game against the Tigers on Monday, though.
  20. First it was we never bunt and people wanted Yost's head, and now we appearently bunt too much? Even in the vent thread, that's absurd. I don't think anybody here wanted Yost to bunt more.
  21. I was surprised by the lack of scoreboard watching. I thought I'd hear roars of approval when the Cubs took the lead/boos when the Mets took the lead. I was camped out in front of the window of the team store watching Chad Gaudin blow the game. The crowd, especially the terrace, filtered out very early last night -- that's been happening all season, and I think it's disappointing. Has anyone here ever been to a game at Shea? If you think booing Bush or Gagne is bad, I remember when the Brewers played in NY in 2006. Jorge Julio allowed a few runs in an 8-2 loss to the Brewers. The next day, he received vociforous boos. It wasn't a smattering -- it was 50,000 boos. Sure, booing Bush and Mota (who has been outstanding since mid-July) isn't cool, but see a game in New York if you want to see how bad it can get.
  22. I've been looking for good omens the past couple of games: Jason Kendall hit a clutch RBI double to tie the game with two outs Prince Fielder hit a majestic walk-off HR I really hope these are moments we'll remember years from now. And, oh yeah, how bout those sleeping giants?
  23. For those of you outside the Milwaukee area this weekend: Friday night's game will be carried by ESPN at 7:05 pm CT and Saturday's game will be carried by FOX at 2:55 pm CT. TBS had the opportunity to carry Sunday afternoon's game, but opted for a meaningless Yankees-Red Sox game instead.
  24. According to Baseball Propectus, the Pittsburgh Pirates are currently the worst team in Major League Baseball. So let's not screw this up.
  25. I'm actually very concerned with the Astros. Only 3.5 games back from the WC, they have an easy schedule the rest of the way with 2 home series against CIN and ATL. After the Braves series last season, remember how it felt being 3.5 GB? It felt like the Brewers were toast -- and they probably were. This time, the Astros have to pass two teams. They've enjoyed a nice run, but it's just going to be too difficult for them (BP gives them a .62% chance as of Monday morning). Besides, they're too busy making t-shirts complaining about Bud Selig. Evidentally, he's killed their season anyways, so why should they even bother?
