  1. Why? Seemed pretty non eventful. Nothing ground breaking either way. Not knowing why our old players aren't good anymore. Blaming injuries. We still have a lot of good players (i.e. we can go at it again next year). Creating an "experience" for fans to enjoy themselves (winning as many games as possible). Mentioning not trading K-Rod to Brian and Bill during the commercial because he "teaches the young guys in the bullpen so much."
  2. Listening to Attanasio was freaking depressing.
  3. I have no problem with the dog. It's the way they keep promoting it that's annoying. It was a cool story at first but the story should've ended after the dog was adopted. Another thing that kind of annoys me is the Molitor bobblehead for a Twins game. Yeah I get it, he was basically a career Brewer and they want him to be part of it but the dude is the opposing manager right now. It looks really stupid when you're celebrating a former player when he's with an opposing team. We might as well have a Mark Reynolds bobblehead when the Cardinals come to town. Maybe make it where there's a ball right in front of home plate with Reynolds swinging at it.
  4. I can see why the Mets are desperately trying to trade Niese to make room for Matz.
  5. Well to be fair, remember there was no way Melvin was going to trade Escobar. We both know that was a totally different situation. Was it? Everyone was assuming we were going to trade Fielder just like everyone's assuming we're going to be trading Gomez and then whatever vets we can for salary relief. Instead we traded for Marcum (say trading Coulter and maybe some other prospects could get us a Marcum) now go and try to pick up an ace with Arcia, Reed and any other prospects the team trading an ace would value. I obviously think it's unlikely but it's not so far out of the realm of possibilities that it's ridiculous to suggest it.
  6. Good call. Segura should've been out for running out of the baseline and if that wasn't called he should've been called out for taking a turn towards 2nd after the ball got away and then being tagged before getting back to 1st base.
  7. Well to be fair, remember there was no way Melvin was going to trade Escobar.
  8. I mean, now? It would probably be meh, whatever. If they did it a year after he was signed just to clear an awful contract that they shouldn't have signed the player to in the first place? I'd be furious. And you can't really compare Toussaint to Bradley. Bradley is a few years older and has never pitched as well as Toussaint is as an 18/19 year old. It'd probably be more like trading Jeffress. Now obviously Jeffress didn't turn into a starter but with the payroll flexibility the Braves have, it makes sense to take a gamble on an extremely talented prospect when all you have to do is add $9.25 million and give up a utility player.
  9. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/getting-good-return-in-trades-could-be-tough-for-brewers-b99522787z1-308737101.html Really striving for excellence there. Yeah, okay, Tom.
  10. From November 16th, 2014 to now. Braves trade 2B Tommy LaStella to Cubs for Arodys Vizcaino Braves trade RF Jason Heyward and RHP Jordan Walden to Cardinals for RHP Shelby Miller and RHP Tyrell Jenkins Braves trade LF Justin Upton and RHP Aaron Northcraft to Padres for 2B Jace Peterson, LHP Max Fried, 3B Dustin Peterson, CF Mallex Smith Braves trade LHP Chasen Shreve and RHP David Carpenter to Yankees for LHP Manny Banuelos Braves trade 1B/OF/C/DH Evan Gattis and RHP James Hoyt to Astros for RHP Mike Foltynewicz, 3B Rio Ruiz and RHP Andrew Thurman Braves trade RHP Craig Kimbrel and CF Melvin Upton Jr. to Padres for RHP Matt Wisler, CF Cameron Maybin, LF Carlos Quentin and LF Jordan Paroubeck And now this trade. What a fantastic job by the Braves this year to clear some payroll and acquire some high upside pitching prospects and in the case of Miller a major league pitcher. Consider me impressed and jealous.
  11. Wish we had payroll flexibility so we could take advantage of stupid teams like the Braves have been doing since the offseason.
  12. He was also in arbitration on one year deals and still in his 20s. Garza is owed $30 million and possibly another $13.5 million if his option vests. It's much different trying to get out of Garza's remaining contract than giving up on Liriano on a couple of one year deals.
  13. Nobody is saying he shouldn't be doing whatever he can but he should've been called back by the umps for leaning into the pitch. That's not unprecedented and is part of the rule book.
  14. Sure but I would've at least asked the umps if it's reviewable or asked them to discuss it amongst themselves. What did they have to lose by just asking?
  15. Yes but Liriano went through a rough patch with injuries. Now maybe Garza is hurt and not telling anyone but what we know about the two pitchers right now are completely different situations which is why it's ridiculous to compare them.
  16. This. I wonder if that's a play you can challenge as a manager. If it is, Williams should've done that assuming he had a challenge left.
  17. So cheap by Tabata. He stuck his elbow down so it would hit him.
  18. Lohse is getting crushed again. The Rockies are just hitting them right at our outfield.
  19. Once again, Garza is owed $30 million through the rest of his contract. Comparing him to Liriano who signed as a flyer for $1 million is ridiculous.
  20. Don't even know why we're asking for a specific position. Just take the best prospect you can get. If that happens to be a 1B, 3B or CF, fine but don't seek out players that just play those positions.
  21. I'm sure most players would like to stay put but he doesn't really have a say (unless he continues playing so poorly that no team even wants him). He's basically saying I'll go where I'm told to go when I'm told to go there. Pretty much the same thing every other player rumored on the trade block says every year.
  22. From 6 days ago. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/130397008/aramis-ramirez-not-focused-on-trade-talks
  23. SS Jean Segura CF Gerardo Parra RF Ryan Braun C Jonathan Lucroy 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Jason Rogers LF Shane Peterson 2B Hernan Perez RHP Taylor Jungmann Put Gomez on the DL already. Geez.
