  2. That Marshfield Clinic commercial with the two kids in the library is far worse than anything Potawatomi has done.
  3. I am hoping this was a RR culture that can be fixed in AAA. I just noticed the Brewers are 3rd in the league in strike outs, 26th in walks. Thats some plate approach. Gennett has always been that type of hitter. It had nothing to do with Roenicke.
  4. It should be obvious that he's not going to keep a 1.33 ERA all year but his strikeouts have stayed above 7 per 9, he's walking less people, his GB% is up 10% from his career average, his LD% is down 3% from his career average. And it looks like he changed his style of pitching a little as well. He's now throwing his cutter 20% compared to 5% the past two years at the expense of his fastball and curveball which probably explains the increased ground ball rate.
  5. What an odd complaint. I think everyone knew who he was referring to since the thread is about one player and he was pretty clearly talking about that player.
  6. BA has him going to the Dodgers at 24 in their mock draft that was released today. MLB doesn't have a mock draft out but has him as the 22nd ranked prospect in the draft.
  7. Please take Gomez out. Whether he passes the concussion test or not, just take him out.
  8. Gennett was damn lucky he got to see another pitch in that at bat because Thor threw a perfect curveball right down the middle and just above the knees that completely fooled him.
  9. Huh, I thought it was only 4-0. Goes to show how much I've been paying attention to this game.
  10. Braun with another 46 hopper to the plate.
  11. Yeah they have every game on the NBC family of networks.
  12. I hope they put the relegation matches on NBCSN and not on E! or something. Probably won't happen for ratings but I hope we get some good announcers at least. All the Champions League spots are taken and it's either going to be 2 or 3 teams fighting for the Europa League spots. The relegation battles will be by far the most interesting games next week.
  13. Gennett has always been this type of hitter and pitchers are now exploiting it. It's a reason why there was a pretty sizable group of us that didn't think he was much more than a cheap platoon guy that you use for a few years while he's cheap until someone better comes along. It seems like you have to hit a ball about 500 feet in a normal park for it to travel 370 at Citi Field.
  14. Leicester with the amazing comeback from the depths to stay in the Premier League! Aston Villa also safe. Hull needs a win against Manchester United or they're relegated. Sunderland and Newcastle also still in danger. Can't happen this year but how amazing would a Tyne-Wear Derby be if the loser was relegated? Talk about bragging rights over your biggest rivals.
  15. Why do you keep saying this? He got 4/82 and he's only 26 and improved each of the last three years he was pitching. Copied directly from BR.com: 2015 26 Boston Red Sox $12,500,000 5.170 2016 27 Boston Red Sox $20,125,000 2017 28 Boston Red Sox $20,125,000 2018 29 Boston Red Sox $21,125,000 2019 30 Boston Red Sox $21,125,000 30 Boston Red Sox $21,125,000 Earliest Free Agent: 2020 Career to date (may be incomplete) $36,231,000 Does not include future salaries ($103.6M) Put simply, BR is wrong. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2015/04/red_sox_sign_porcello_to_four-year_extension.html
  16. My guess is you are wrong. If a team is willing to trade for him it is because they believe he is the pitcher of the past 2 season where he was completely viable as a playoff pitcher. If past trades are any indication of what Lohse is worth it would tell us he is at least worth a B/B- type prospect. The Lackey trade last year is where I would put Lohse's trade value at. You're thinking of Masterson. He got a former 1st round pick who was 24 and had decent numbers. His numbers this year are horrible though. Lackey got Kelly and Craig.
  17. Why do you keep saying this? He got 4/82 and he's only 26 and improved each of the last three years he was pitching.
  18. Juventus makes the Champions League Final much to the dismay of kalle8. They played really well. Gave up a few chances after they scored but they actually had two better chances than any of Real Madrid's chances in the last half hour.
  19. It's not hindsight if I was against the deal from the beginning, which I was. So that's what we're going to base it on? Well two out of three ain't bad, so it worked out! Sorry, I'm never going to agree with that reasoning. He gave us a couple extra wins per season to push us from 71 to 74 wins and from 79 to 82 wins. Yay, I guess. Not his fault but nothing I'm going to go and praise the front office about either. Especially at the cost of a draft pick. It definitely would help. Even a playoff appearance would help. As it is we got a mid rotation starter that got us just over .500 and 14 games below .500 and now it looks like he's toast and if he is we're not going to get any value in a trade. Might not even be able to trade him unless we take on pretty much all the money and accept basically nothing in return. I guess I don't see the point of signing players like Lohse if you're not going to push all in. What good is signing a 3 win player to a 75 win team if you stop there? You're better off just saving the money and not signing the player, especially when that player costs you a much needed draft pick.
  20. Forgive me for thinking other teams aren't going to be knocking down our door for a 36 year old pitcher with a 7 ERA who has pitched every bit like he should have a 7 ERA and if for some reason a team is knocking on our door, they certainly aren't going to be offering anything of value player wise.
  21. Broxton sucks, we all admit that but that's not the subject. Yes, the first two years he was a 3.50 ERA pitcher costing us $11 million. He also cost us a 1st round pick and in terms of team success, that 3.50 ERA didn't really help us. So we basically got a 3.50 ERA for nothing other than a couple of .500 seasons, the loss of a 1st round pick and a third season where it looks like he's done. So what exactly did it get us? We're not going to get good value in a trade, we didn't make the playoffs and we lost a 1st round pick. How exactly can this be judged as positive for the franchise?
  22. A competent manager doesn't leave Broxton in for the entire 8th inning tonight. The only reason we got out of that inning tied is because Ventura is a complete idiot and had Shuck bunt and Gomez making a great play on a 390 foot rocket to center that would've scored two runs.
  23. My major issue with the deal as well. I also wished we would've traded Lohse this offseason. The numbers last year looked good but he was getting hit around pretty good his last 10 or so starts. Some of those went into gloves and his numbers for those games looked decent, others weren't caught and he got roughed up. He still had solid value after last season, now he just seems like a we'll give you some salary relief and a guy that has no chance at a major league career while we hope he can maybe bounce back to be a #5 starter.
