  1. How about trying to hit it away from the shift? Easier said than done, I know but if you do it enough they might ease off on the shift a little bit. I mean, should we make outfielders play straightaway or is it okay for them to shift? Shifting outfielders take away extra base hits. Shifting infielders take away singles. If you want to increase offense, don't have outfielders shift. Of course that would be stupid too.
  2. Not sure if that's Hank or some random furry that happens to be a baseball fan. Kinda hoping it's a furry because that wouldn't be as dumb.
  3. Again, where are you getting the 5ERA from other than from where the sun doesn't shine? He hasn't even had an ERA of 4 in his 10 years in the league, and an ERA over 3 one time. Could it happen? Sure...but there's tons of relievers who are fine into their mid 30's. The point is he's a 34 year old reliever. Those guys tend to fall off fast. Granted he was in his 40s but Hoffman went from a 1.83 ERA to a 5.89 ERA. I just hate that we're spending a ton of money on Broxton and now will likely be paying a significant chunk of money to Papelbon while also guaranteeing his 2016 option. It's a horrible waste of money for maybe 100 innings between them.
  4. I still don't see a team willing to trade for him if we're out of the race unless we pick up even more money. I just don't see the reason to do this. It doesn't make us a contender. We won't get a lot back prospect wise if the team sucks and we decide to trade him, so why bother wasting the money and possible prospects now?
  5. Ugh. Let's hope we're on his no trade list and he isn't willing to waive.
  6. How can you say you don't like it without even knowing what they're getting back? Sure if they trade him for Aaron Poreda and Adam Rosales, that's an awful deal but if they got Joey Gallo and Alex Gonzalez (not happening but I'm making a point) then I'm not sure how anyone could not like the deal.
  7. Wouldn't it be easier to hook up with the White Sox if they would've decided to move games? Just looking at the schedule the Brewers would have conflicts in the opening series of the year where the Cubs would probably have to play a couple of early afternoon games so it wouldn't conflict with the Brewers night games. Looking at the Cubs and White Sox schedules, I'm surprised they wouldn't go there. Stay in the same city and there's not a single White Sox home game that conflicts with a Cubs home game. Whenever the Cubs are at home, the White Sox are on the road and vice versa through at least the beginning of May. Why make the fans drive 90 miles north and the players for that matter when there's an empty stadium literally in your own backyard.
  8. Why? It's a lot like the extra point in football. Sure the pitcher might throw it to the backstop, but it happens so rarely that it makes sense to just let the batter take his base without wasting time throwing pitches.
  9. Hey! I got a wallet with that logo from a claw machine at Walmart when I was a kid.
  10. This is where you lost me. He's pitched better, stat wise, that any of our pitchers we have on our team and you want to call him our 5? Not adding up. We used 7 starters last year. He was 5th out of 7 in FIP and 6th out of 7 in xFIP (ahead of only Estrada).
  11. Brewers had 5 'B' grade prospects in 2014. For 2015, we have 9. That's some significant progress with our system. Only one 'B' prospect dropped (Roache), while one graduated (Nelson). Two new guys (Harrison and Medeiros) got B grades, and a bunch of players improved. Again, that's nice progress. Not to mention Lara who's listed as C+ and 14th on the list with Sickels saying he could move to #1 on the list after getting a chance to see him this year.
  12. My problem was he never got a chance here. The Lee trade wasn't good without Cruz, it was even worse with him.
  13. Anyone could have picked up Cruz about a year later. No one did. That was not a mistake at all. That just means we made a mistake twice. There was no reason to make that trade with or without Cruz.
  14. That would be me. Don't talk to me when I'm walking past you if I don't know you. Don't say Merry Christmas, don't even say hi.
  15. He misjudged it by trading Cruz for a bunch of crap, not Hart vs Cruz.
  16. Not a team heat map but you can do individual players. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pc_splash.php Type in the name of the player and then on the bottom right there will be a zone profile and then you can play around with the numbers by year, pitch type, etc.
  17. I had to google what OOZ% was, thought there was another new stat that I didn't understand, and nothing came up... What is OOZ% ? Out of Zone swing percentage. Basically how many balls a team swings at.
  18. I can't help you with planning or anything because I've only been there once when I was 8 so I obviously didn't plan it. I do remember the resort we stayed at though and it was awesome so I highly recommend it. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=5608&language=en_US
  19. I don't think you can change the PTBNL when the trade has already been completed. Yes Turner has been announced as the PTBNL. Yes it's official. No it can't change. Yes he should be allowed to go to Washington right away but MLB is stupid with their antiquated rules.
  20. They just got new ownership approved at the end of May. They're not going to sell a year in.
  21. So Kemp will be their CF? Good luck with that.
  22. I know Myers injured his wrist last year and that can be a scary injury for a hitter but that's the best Tampa could do? He was one of the top prospects in the game and ROY two years ago. San Diego didn't even have to give up any of their top 4 prospects for him and the top prospects they did give up are going to Washington. Man, the Rays moves this offseason show how good Friedman was.
  23. Any guesses on who this could be?... Gomez?... Braun? As much as I think Seattle is ripe for a huge overpay right now, I don't think there is any chance the Brewers would do it. I thought of this thread when I saw that on MLBTR as well. Like you, I don't think there's any chance the Brewers would do it but I did think about this for a second.
