  1. I don't get how we're playing for a tie on the road when we're down by one and bunting to move TWO runners in scoring position with nobody out? Especially since the bunter (Weeks) hasn't hit a home run since April. Well, basically you are bunting in order to get the man to 3rd with one out to ensure a long fly or other variety of sacrifice will at least tie the game for you. In that situation, you now have a runner on 3rd with 2 outs and a tie game on the road. If you get a single with no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, you still have a great shot to get that next runner in to take the lead with a sacrifice, either getting him over to 3rd if he didn't get past 2nd base, or scoring him if he did reach 3rd base on the hit. I'd take Weeks swinging considering he is not a great candidate to get doubled off. There was another situation a few weeks back in which I wish we wouldn't have bunted. It resulted in Braun getting few pitches to hit with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out and he struck out trying to get the bat on the ball, and then Prince was intentionally walked, so we basically sacrificed our way out of letting Braun or Fielder get anything to hit in a key situation.

  3. I was thinking about a thread like this the other day... I believe Bill Hall will hit at least 8 HR the rest of the way. I believe Gabe Gross will contribute significantly down the stretch. I believe the race for the NL Central will be very close.
  4. See my sig (and avatar)! Conan O'Brien: Sit perfectly still. Only I may dance. - Homer: Lisa, if you don't like your job, you don't strike. You just go in everyday and do it really half-assed. That's the American way! - Aussie: That's not a knife, THIS, is a knife. Bart: That's not a knife, that's a spoon. Aussie: Alright, alright, you win. I see you've played knifey-spoony before! -
  5. I agree, it'll probably be Gwynn for his pinch running and defense late in playoff games, but Dillon's had some nice cuts and we need someone who hits both RHP EDIT: and LHP off the bench. So I'd say Dillon has a shot to get on the playoff roster over Gwynn if he looks competent the rest of the way.
  6. Why do the brewers get the lead early and then do absolutly nothing the rest of the game? Just to make you mad.
  7. chili-cheese coleslaw dogs Mmm, that sounds really tasty, I'll be stopping by your next tailgate http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif
  8. way to go Menchkins, back to back doubles! This team is heating up...
  9. I take that quote more as non-chalance about his abilities; some people that are really talented can stay modest while still being confident. Hart's self-deprecating sense of humor is pretty normal for the modest type. Corey knows he's good, he just doesn't feel the need to be boastful.

  11. Parra seconded. He's pitched well, but he seems to make the most sense. He'd probably be right back up by September anyway.
  12. I would think if the Brewers are in the playoffs and Yo has pitched 175-180 innings already, they would certainly consider giving him another start. However if Cappy/Suppan/Bush (or two of three) are pitching well toward the end of the season I wouldn't be suprised at all if they relegate Yo to the pen for the postseason.
  13. Yovani is now at 130.2 IP for the season between Nashville and the big club, giving him about 40-45 possibly 50 IP for the rest of the season. That leaves him with about 8 starts before we would want to shut him down. If Ben does come back in early September, we should be able to move him back into the bullpen with about 15-20 innings for the rest of the season. If Sheets is out longer, we could see Parra take a few starts in September for Gallardo to save him for later (most likely), or else we could see Yovani unavailable for potential postseason play.
  14. My two mainstays are named the Spurbury Police and the SCLSU Mud Dogs. Two words: Ectoplasmic Residue
  15. Let's start a new streak of days in first place tonight. I feel a hot streak coming for the Crew. Have no fear Milwaukee, this is what we've been craving for years: meaningful games in August and September. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eek.gif
  16. I'm with Ennder on this one. My vent is when people take joy moreso in being right than the team having success. I (like most I'm sure) thought the Cubs had a chance to catch us back in mid-May, but I'm not here gloating that I predicted the downfall, nor am I here posting how the "optimists" were wrong. That's not a vent. The "I told you so" stuff is ridiculous; who exactly are you calling out? The people that didn't think the Cubs would catch us? Can you blame them for thinking we had a good chance to hold that lead? Just like FTJ was saying, every fan has their way of looking at things.
  17. I'm going to say no, but I still have high hopes for the rest of the season. Another hot streak and we could push back into a few game lead, so it's still too soon to say much for sure. I will say that our starting pitching could be on the rebound even without Sheets. Suppan had a nice start, Cappy seems to be getting it back, Bushy has been good the last 2 months and Gallardo is Gallardo. If Parra pushes into the rotation I think we'd be better off as well. Sheets being out really hurts right now though. One big injury could decide this thing.
  18. even though I don't follow or care about NASCAR... http://www.motorsport.com/photos/nascar-cup/2004/day/nascarcup-2004-day-eg-0524.jpg
  19. At this point, it's about winning. Yes, but the team can win without one of its relievers for a couple days. One could argue that you'd rather throw Spurling than a Scott Linebrink who is thinking more about his under-the-knife wife (sorry) than the next pitch he's going to throw. Plus, if you are hoping to resign Linebrink, allowing him to be by his wife's side is a good start. EDIT -- yeah, what Geno said http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. I just saw Korn a week or so ago, they sound a bit different with a different guitarist, sounded much better at Ozzfest 4-5 years back. Green Day, especially in a smaller venue like the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, puts on a great live show. Saw them at Alliant in Madtown also. Other great live shows: Tool Nonpoint (right after "Statement" came out, before everything else) Incubus Disturbed Marilyn Manson (not a fan really, but he puts on a good show) Barenaked Ladies (one of these things is not like the others; really fun group though) Killswitch Engage Shadows Fall
  21. Homey might play that. Well played. Jenkins blast is definitely sitting well with me right now. Also, the Brewers game being on ESPN tonight is not bugging me. This Starbucks coffee with half a packet of hot chocolate is revitalizing. I may even wake up here soon.
  22. There were several instances last night of me screaming at my stereo and threatening to turn the game off. So glad I didn't. Way to go Geoff Jenkins, here's to this being the start of a tremendous late season hot streak. Wouldn't it be eerie if the non-IGT win proved to be a pivotal point in the Brewers' season?
  23. If he's tired then the Brewers would be idiots to sign him next year. The Brewers won't resign CoCo next year I don't think, not because he's tired (I don't know if he is) but because he will likely get a larger contract from someone else this offseason than the Brewers will be likely to spend on a closer.
  24. Prince does not need a day off. And you know this how? The guy has played all but two games this season, I find it hard to believe Ned would sit him if he didn't think it would be beneficial. Prince needs a day off sometime. Everyone will now be rested for the Cards series this weekend.
  25. Good juju for tonight. I hope to see this scene play out late in the game. http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/05/11/sports/11brewers.600.1.jpg
