  1. link again we won't know for sure until Friday if these are real, but here are the leaked marlin uniforms for 2012.
  2. link an absolute steal for the Royals. While he struggled this year he does has a no-hitter and is entering free agency in 2013 so I will assume he will return to his 2010 form. I don't know if there would have been a good match for the brewers but I would have supported giving up something like a Gomez and another player for him if Cabrera was all it took.
  3. by far the lamest episode of the season last night, not much funny about it at all.
  4. i don't think he has a voice for play by play. I like that he is a milwaukee guy but the brewers are in the position where they should be able to get someone decent, even if its the #2 seat.
  5. i see it being an issue in Mequon too. I'll probably make it to a game, but still most of my entertainment dollar is going to be spent at Miller Park. Milwaukee is oversaturated with sports teams right now and now Milwaukee is adding one. The Mustangs get no support at all. When the brewers are drawing 3 million people, its going to be hard to get people to drive 30 minutes to see some college kids.
  6. link I heard Madison Mallards games are fun and haven't made it to one, may have to go to a game next summer since it will be much closer to home. The name and manager will be announced later today.
  7. i don't think we will get compensated for K-rod or Yuni since their options were not picked up yesterday.... right?
  8. I'm going to assume the early front funner would be Jose Oquendo. He is from the cardinal family, close with Pujols, and has some managerial experience in the WBC.
  9. there really isn't much on the court to talk about. There is no free agency until the lockout ends. The team made a couple of moves which has been discussed already. There really isn't any hot stove since everyone's roster is up in the air.
  10. with WVU reportily getting a big 12 invite today, i think basketball only schools really need to look into forming their own conference. The Big East is really focusing on football. Bringing in Boise St, Air Force, Central Florida does nothing for Marquette. If a conference of St. John's, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Villanova, Providence, DePaul, Marquette and Xavier could be formed. Maybe some other schools could be swayed too like Butler, Bucknell, George Mason, Duquesne, Richmond, George Washington, or St Louis could join. They may not have the tradition as the Big East schools and Xavier, but these schools would not have to worry about future football-based realignment..
  11. I think most of the results are due to the lockout and once it gets resolved people will go to the games. I don't go to nearly as much bucks game for numerous reasons, but I still follow them and watch the games when i can. The bucks will go out of their way to come up with deals to get people to go I would guess.
  12. Houston is a huge market for their TV network. Why they aren't going after UCF is beyond me.Houston may be a huge TV market in general but it may not be so much for their network. I would imagine most of the college football fans in Houston are Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, etc. fans and Houston and the Big East isn't going to be must see TV. I looked back at the NYT article I linked on the previous page in this topic and they identified Houston as having about 100,000 fans, which is pretty low in comparison to WVU at around 900,000 because they are watched by their whole state. They should even be able to call some mash up of the Big East , Mountain West and Conference USA a super conference, more like a mediocre conference. i agree, i see no benefit to the few remaining big east football schools to allow a bunch of average teams from small conferences in. It increases the number but its not going to be remotely close to how the big east has been since the c-usa schools joined the big east a few years ago.
  13. Houston is a huge market for their TV network. Why they aren't going after UCF is beyond me.I believe they are. I thought they were looking at schools like Boise St, Army, and Central Florida.
  14. i personally hate all of this realignment that is ignoring certain geographical areas. WVU doesn't belong in the big 12. Combining the MWC and the Big East is stupid. That being said I think the Big East should try to get A-10 schools like Xavier and Temple, and C-USA schools like Memphis and Central Florida. I don't see the value of adding Texas schools like Houston or SMU.
  15. thursdays office reminded me of season 2 and 3 when the office was at its peak. loved it. i wouldn't like it if it was dwight and jim going back and forth every week but once and a while is good.
  16. was thinking about getting a sixer of octoberfest to watch the game with on the way home from work.
  17. i hope i'm wrong but i have a bad feeling about tonight, garcia has been struggling so long eventually he has to have a good outing. This is the most pressure Greinke has ever had to pitch under, hopefully he handles it well.
  18. didn't get to see the episode last night since the brewers obviously took precedence, looks like nobody else saw it either. i'm looking forward to seeing it tonight after the brewers game.
  19. i agree, it was awful (about as awful as the brewers game that was going on at the same time)
  20. yeah you may be right, i don't think he is handling the national exposure right at all and is now just being goofy for the sake of it. its lost in genuineness. i want the guy back who got the game winning hit and didn't know it was even the 9th.
  21. yeah probably has more to do with home field advantage than letting the fans be comfortable. i'm all for it, just want to win this game.
  22. i think if they bring in a veteran bench coach it can work. It would also help to have an experienced pitching and hitting coach. There was a learning curve for Roenicke this season and he managed in the minors and had a decent amount of major league coaching experience. Ventura doesn't have that, so its going to be an uphill climb. Also managers can loose games still by leaving in pitches too long. I think it can be argued that Gibson lost games 1 and 2 for Arizona. The talent can be there, but the manager still has influence in how the team does. I did argue that it was insane to give up players for Ozzie because players have a larger influence on how a game ends up. I do believe that the manager has enough that you can't just sub in anyone.
  23. didn't see this one coming. I am surprised they went after someone with not only any major league managerial experience but without any coaching experience. One of the posters on mlbtrade rumors states that his highest coaching experience is the hitting coach on his sons high school baseball team. link
  24. i read somewhere that for survivor series there would be a team WWE vs team anti-WWE. The anti WWE team would be Vince, Miz, Nash, and R Truth, against team WWE, the Rock, Triple H, Cena and someone else.
