Thought I'd give your board a shot, since espn is acting up. Very good looking Game Thread! And I have Brewer audio now (thank god).

To clear this up, is Villy wearing 33 or 12 this year? I've heard both, and there are references to both in this thread. It says 12 up in the graphic. Does anyone know for sure?

by the way, I got the audio to work, finally, about 3 batters into the game.

Beats me, I've heard 33 or 12.... so I just took the number they have on brewers.com. I guess we will know for sure when the pics come out for this game.

Interesting discussion about pitchers but I think they are drawing the wrong conclusions. Pitchers cannot afford to just cruise these days, the lineups are just too strong top to bottom. Pitchers throw at max effort more so can throw fewer pitches total than before, not because managers dont' expect them to throw more, but because you cannot be effective unless you do.

Yes they do, but studies have shown not every pitch takes the same toll. Minor league innings as an example are 'easier' than major league. The major reasoning is that in the majors these days you throw almost every pitch maximium effort. There are very few easy outs in the lineup where you can go on cruise control. So a pitcher today throwing 100 pitches is exerting something like 120 pitches worth of effort from a minor league pitcher.

I'm a firm believer that if you take a 300 inning pitcher from the past and put him in todays game he'd either totally stink, would get injured pretty quickly or would have to cut down his innings significantly. A lot of those olden day lineups had 3 or 4 light hitters in them, that just isn't the case anymore.

I agree, its just that people act like pitchers are treated with kid gloves when in truth they aren't handled much differently they just have a much more difficult job and it takes more pitches to get through a lineup

Cappy gets roughed up a little and gives up a couple of runs. On a positive note Braun has been doing very well in left in this small sample size.

Cappy pitched fine in an inning and a third, but lost it just a little for the final 2/3. Oh well, he had a better outing than Bush did his first time out.

Not much more you can ask for than listening to Uecker and Powell on a Sunday afternoon. The only thing that'd make everything right would be for it to be warm enough to sit outside with the grill fired up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

So, interesting question. Who will have more home runs at the end of the year, Jason Kendall or Yo? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

If Yo stays healthy, I'd go with Yo. LOL

Nix drives in another run (yay!) on a hit and run. That is at least the third hit and run i can remember resulting in one double play and a couple of hits. My question is is this team really going to run like this during the season? My concern is that while there is a lot of speed there arn't a whole lot of really good contact hitters.
