Gary Gygax dead

I am deeply depressed. When I said that Brett retired and that there was more bad news my wife incorrectly guessed bad Brewer news, which does put a positive spin on the whole situation. Long live the prophet of Lake Genevea.

I lived next door to the Gygaxs for several years. I was young, but I remember them being a really nice family. I never personally got into the D+D stuff, but Lake Geneva was of course a hot-bed for it.

Ironic but I was just cleaning out my attic and came across my old set of D&D books. I thought about e-Baying them but figured they wouldn't be worth anything. Being a capitalist at heart my first thought was maybe his death will increase the value of them. I kind of felt bad for thinking that.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

My first library job was being a student page in a small public library. I started working during the initial heyday of D&D and still remember the thick stack of reserve slips that seemed to accompany every Gary Gygax book. (Same with crappy Michael Jackson quickie biographies, but that's another story for another day.) RIP.

I'm just glad that "biographies" immediately followed "Michael Jackson quickie". Phew!

I have to ask, out of respect for the man... is it pronounced 'Guy-jaxx'? Or 'Gih-jaxx', 'Gih-jihx', 'Jiy-jaxx/jihx'?

Thanks in advance.

Are we sure he won't show up later as a Level 40 Dire Lich?

Necromancers are EVERYWHERE, man.

I still have a small shoebox filled with old D&D stuff. some of the adventure modules are originals. Nice!

I usually go thru that box once a year for some good memories and laughs.

Too bad my paladin can't lay hands on him and resurrect him.

I met him on several occasions. His son broke into my friends car looking for weed(my friend doesn't smoke), outside of that i have had nothing but good memories of the Gygaxs.
