Derby Update - Braun Is In

5 of the 8 participants were named today and Braun was not one of them. Why don't they announce all 8 at once? Do you think Braun will ultimately be included? Should he be?

EDIT: Updated title - b19

Braun is 8th in the Majors in HR's and he should get in before Adam Dunn (not an all-star). Pat Burrell is right behind Braun (not an all-star as of now) so Braun should be ahead of him as well. The only thing that might hurt him is the concentration of National League hitters atop the HR board (7 of the top 8). Does anyone have a link to the 5 announced?

I would be perfectly fine if he sits, especially if his hand is bothering him still.

If Braun does end up making it, can we hold an online vote to veto Berman out of the announcers booth? I can hear it already: Back back back back BRAUN GONE!

Ugh.

Vlad is the other.

Actually according to the article I read, Sizemore is the other. But since Vlad won last year, I'm sure he will be in

I'd really rather not see Braun in the derby. Maybe I'm alone there, but play in the game, and take a well-deserved break for the rest. I'd love to see him sitting on the grass, whooping it up as he watches others over-exert themselves & hit moon-shots.

I agree. Keep Braun out. Especially with his hand hurting him. It's really only 1 spot that is open, as it's 4 from the NL and 3 are decided upon.

good points. i guess i am guilty of wanting as much national media attention for milwaukee. especially when braun is locked up for now

I'm sorry that Braun won't be in, because when I'm watching it, I like to have a horse in the race.

I dislike the HR Derby, but I might watch if Braun was in. It's less interesting than the Slam Dunk Contest in the NBA, and that's like watching paint dry. Has a Brewer participant ever performed well? I think the Futures Game is more interesting and a better showcase of MLB baseball.
You may run like Mays...

We can always send Sheeter to the derby. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

The fact that he had a slight injury should be reason enough to not even consider participating.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

I hope he doesn't participate. If he does. I'll have to watch. If I have to watch, I'll be subjected to Chris Berman, which is something I try to avoid at all costs.

If he has any sort for hand injury I don't want him in it. Now if he is healthy Id love to see him in it, although that does mean having to suffer through a couple hours of Berman.
