Because swinging at what you know is going to be a fastball from Peavy , one of the best pitchers in the game, is better just guessing after 3-1

Inexcusable, especially against a tough picture when you need to manufacture runs. Cameron reaches third with Kendall up next and probabilities are we score a run.

Ueker said, "Got let hm go on 3-0 against Peavy." Is the think there because he's such a good pitcher that will be the only fastball down the middle of the plate you'll see against him? I don't get it.

Especially when its 1st and 2nd and 1 out. Take the walk if you can and get the lead run to third so you can score a run without a hit.

If he throws a strike you still are in a favorable count situation on the next pitch.

Yes, batters should never swing 3-0, so pitchers can always throw an 85 MPH fastball for a strike. Makes a lot of sense.

Cam got his fastball and missed it. It happens.

Wow... Sheets is bringing the heat in the 1st inning. Reminds me of his 2nd game of the year when he got his first CG shutout of the year against the Giants, when he was 94-95 mph in the 1st and stayed sharp the whole game (instead of taking a few innings to warm up).

I think the gun at Petco may be cranked up a bit. Last night it had one of Riske's pitches at 94 and one of Mota's at 99

Tracking on ESPN Gamecast, it appears that this strike zone is really inconsistent. How does it look on TV?

The second strike to Durham in his first at bat was clearly ball four. The last two pitches Sheets threw to Peavy were clearly strikes. Peavy has also been squeezed on a few.

Wow, now he's giving the outside and low end of the strike zone to Peavy. I am so sick of these umps changing the strike zone as the game goes on. They obviously want to loose their jobs to that automated system that's in the works.
