That has been Gagne the whole season though. He looks good and then all of a sudden he throws a mistake pitch usually when he is ahead in the count.

I would say the patience at the plate has been a plus and the defense really hasn't killed us this game.

FWIW, Torres' splits are basically the same vs. lefties and righties.

I feel the same. They had Parra warming up in the 8th in case it got to Howard but since it's the 9th inning in a "closing situation" you can't go with the better split.

 

And as I type this Howard gets a base hit.
