Local Food Challenges (Like Man vs. Food)

I enjoy watching Man vs Food. I was wondering if anyone out there has either, any local favorite challenges, or has tried any across the country. Or what challenges do you think you could take down?

I once bested my buddies by eating 18 taco bell tacos. That's not really a local challenge that you're looking for though I suppose.

And no, I was not under the influence of any appetite enhancing effects.

You could do the Miller Park sausage challenge. Eat a hot dog, brat, italian, polish, and chorizo all in one game! I did it haha. Cost me way too much money though.

About 8 years ago I did the Prime Quarter thing. I don't remember the size of the steak, I'm guessing 24oz with texas toast, salad and baked potato. If you eat it all you get a free meal next time. It was great. They give you a medal to wear around your neck and they used to take a polaroid picture of you right after eating that went on the wall. I heard they stopped the picture though.

We were at a weekday game a few years ago where a high school student in a group near us "ate for the cycle." Just as he finished the last bite of the last sausage, Prince or someone hit the go-ahead (and eventual game winning) RBI. So it can pay off, in the short term at least.

Nite Owl in Milwaukee:

A double cheeseburger, large fries and a malt. It sounds easy, but a friend of mine in high school bragged about some place where he ate a 4 pound burrito and thought this challenge was nothing. Well, an hour later he was rolling around in pain in the back seat of my LTD. If you want to up the ante a bit, make it 2 cheeseburgers with the works instead of one double. I did it and felt like a man for a day.

The 10 saltines in a minute are almost impossible. A few years ago when I was at State Fair I went to his stage area in the big expo building and gave it a shot (although it was actually 12 saltines at the time). Not even close. You were allowed to drink as much as you wanted before eating provided you swallowed everything. The closest anyone got was eating like 8 and having another 4 in his mouth, but he couldn't get them down.

At the time Homer's award for everything was $500, but he was talking about upping the ante to $1000 IIRC.

Thank you for starting this thread. I've always told my friends that I don't like to do speed-eating type contests because I'd rather enjoy what I'm eating and just eat a lot. Here is my chance to put my money where my mouth is.

I also did the Prime Quarter thing. It kinda blew the majesty of it when I was just one of three people at my table who did it, haha. But damn I was stuffed.

Homer on WAUK keeps talking about some challenge they have where you have to eat 10 saltine crackers (mouth dry before and after) in a minute. Supposedly it's impossible.
Six is a pretty big struggle. I wouldn't believe anyone could do 10 in a minute unless I saw it personally.

There's still one in Janesville that seems pretty to be doing good business. I did the 40oz once.

No big feat for me, I did the 72 oz at a steakhouse in Amarillo once. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

How about 9 beers and 9 hot dogs in 9 innings.
We call that Wednesday.

The 24oz. at Prime Quarter doesn't sound like that much. I know I could do that meal hands down. A 40 oz.-er sounds interesting though.

yeah, but is it like The Great Outdoors and you have to eat the whole thing? Fat and gristle included?

The 22 to 24 oz'er is their "normal" big steaks. The 40 oz'er is the trophy steak.

Yeah I don't remember what size the steak was at Prime Quarter. I didn't think it was all that hard to do though. Only a couple bucks more and then the next time you go your meal is free.
