Bob Uecker enters the WWE Hall of Hame -- Haudricourt provides Ueck's speech

WWE that is.

 

JSOnline.com is reporting that actor and Major League Baseball personality Bob Uecker will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Uecker appeared at WrestleMania 3 and 4, and when asked about his WWE Hall of Fame induction he said, "It's going to be a hoot."

Haha, that's fantastic. My avatar is a picture of him and Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania 4, one of the most classic Mania moments ever. With Wrestlemania being in Phoenix this year, I suppose it's easy for Uecker to make the trip to the Hall of Fame ceremony.

He didn't have a good OBP, he doesn't deserve to be in the hall.

in the WWF Hall of Fame and he didn't take performance enhancing drugs? I wouldn't have voted for him.

A little bourbon behind the ears never hurt anybody. That scene from Major League when he puts the booze behind his ears like aftershave made me laugh hysterically.

Man, Ueck killed as usual. Plus we got some new wrestling related stories instead of his usual shtick, although he did open with the signing bonus joke. A very nice and hilarious speech.

Ueck did the first few innings of Saturday's game on WTMJ. I'm definitely paraphrasing here, but he said he had been working on the hands around the neck thing with a new guy/giant, and he was telling him not to really squeeze.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the The Great Khali came out on stage at one point and recreated that with Bob, especially since Khali is only brought on for comedy schtick at this point (is he injured, or just useless as most of us suspect?)

Man, they edited the heck out of that show, it obviously can't be recreated in 40 minutes (plus commercials).


Ted DiBiase gave a nice from-the-heart non-scripted speech, I thought.

I'm guessing the skit will be tonight. The new Hall of Famers always get a segment at Wrestlemania.

Khali's health always seems to be off-and-on due to his chronic knee problems. IIRC, he's having the same problems Andre the Giant had, with his legs not being able to support his body weight very well. It's why he's always typically walked "stiff-legged" (something that's been lampooned a few times). But yeah, he's mostly useless, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

 

Wasn't able to catch the event on TV, but I was able to find some of the clips on YouTube. I liked the special touch of DiBiase's speech ending with money being dumped on the audience from the rafters, and I will always love that laugh. He has one of my favorite themes of all time.

Of course I love Ueck and am glad to see him honored in any context, but the guy I was happiest to see inducted was Mad Dog Vachon. He was the scariest guy throughout my childhood. Not sure how he would play now, but that awesome beard and voice, with a complete disregard for the rules. . .I was terrified.
