I don't know about let down. Hopefully theres a few more home games for the "classy" way . LaRussa can then enjoy them and know that all is right in his world again.

I think it would have been great if Jim Gantner would have been throwing to Joaquin Andujar. Then when Andujar gives the ball back to Gumby he pops him one in the nose.

At least put Geoff Jenkins/Cirllo/Gumby in the suit. that would have been hillarious. and we all needed hillarious tonight.

It was funny, but ultimately disappointing. The hype made it seem like it was going to be someone really cool and leaking it so far in advance left a lot of time to speculate and get hopes up.

 

Plus, this guy had made an appearance before, so it wasn't even something new. He was in the dugout before another game and they had that on the broadcast and on the news.

 

In retrospect, it just feels like it was the opening joke on a night that felt like the punch line was on us.
