Brewerfan Winter Meetings 2012: March 10 at AJ Bombers, Madison

Posted

All right folks, let's make this official:

What?: Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings

Where?: AJ Bombers, Madison, WI (201 West Gorham St.)

When?: Saturday, March 10, 2012, starting at 7 PM

Come join with other Brewers fans and talk about Brewers baseball, and whatever else, while enjoying food and beverages. Matt, the owner of the location, has offered to give back to Brewerfan.net 10% of the proceeds for the evening (or to a charity of the website's choice). All are welcome, so feel free to bring friends and family. Let's make this one of the best Winter Meetings yet!

I don't have my bearings with the new software, so I can't help with the featuring yet. However, count two attendees for the hawing household.

Also, with the new forum software, is there any way to re-pin this topic to the front page of the forum? Thanks.

We don't have the easy "featured topic" toy that we had at the other place.

One option would be to make this a "global announcement." That would put it at the top of every forum page, but not on the front page. I'll do that for now.

I think the best option for this would be to put a link to this topic into the HTML. I'll look into that later.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Congrats to AJ Bombers for one of the best burgers in Madison. Not sure of the magazine or site doing the brackets, but it's down to the last two and AJ bombers is there.

Thanks! Will we see you on the 10th?

I'd like to start getting a rough estimate of who's coming. I might also be able to produce a Winter Meetings 2012 shirt to be available for purchase (my brother has a screenprinting business) but I'd need to have a ballpark idea of how many we'd need to produce.

I started a Twtvite page for the event: http://twtvite.com/brewerfan2012wintermeetings

RSVP! Let me know if you'd be interested in a shirt. Have to have enough to make it worth Aaron's while to produce them.

No, I won't be able to make it. It sure sounds like a fun time, though, with all die hard Brewers fans around. By the way, what magazine/paper is doing the best burger contest?

Looking like I won't be able to make it. My wife likely has a work function Saturday night, and we haven't been able to find a babysitter.

So you're not considering bringing your children. :(

Anyone need directions to AJ Bombers? It's the corner of Gorham and Henry Sts, a block off State. Remember (if you're not a Madison regular) that you can't drive on State, Gorham is one-way going west, and Johnson is one-way going east.

Here's a map showing public parking lots/ramps in downtown Madison:

http://www.cityofmadison.com/parkingutility/maps/Downtown.cfm

No. 2 on the map is across the street from AJ Bombers, but it's a fairly small surface lot. Nos. 6, 7 and 8 on the map are larger ramps, each within a few blocks' walk.

My wife and I will be there unless our Girls' Basketball team scores an upset tonight and plays for a Regional Championship tomorrow.

So, another "winter" meeting has come and gone, and this was a good one. We had awesome digs in the back of AJ Bombers Madison - courtesy of recte! - and geeked out on baseball to our collective hearts' content. The food was good and the service top-notch.

Thanks to Invader3K for getting the ball rolling on this year's event, recte for running with it and providing a great venue, and to each of you who made the trip. We'll aim for a Milwaukee venue next year, provided the world doesn't end in December.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Thanks to all who came. I wish I could have been able to spend more time with you than I was able to, but so happy that you all had a great time!!!
