Any word on Gamel today yet? I'm guessing they are just being safe and having him rest today and then day off tomorrow so he's all good on Friday. Well I hope that's the case at least!

Let's get the sweep today. Always enjoy some afternoon baseball!

maybe but then aoki would be playing against a lefty who he has only 5 abs this season against (1 hit)

Aoki can handle lefties just fine. I'm pretty sure he was good against them in ST and Japan.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

I'm going to miss most of this due to day-job issues, but afternoon baseball is fun when you can follow it as it happens. Come on, Brewers, this is one of those times when you can make hay (though the sun is not literally shining).

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

A win today would give us a 6-3 homestand and a record over .500....which would be pretty impressive given our bullpen struggles and lack of offense.

At some point you have to play Corey at first to see how he handles it. Why not against the 'Stros? Get his feet wet and see how he does. And Aoki, with his approach at the plate, would be just fine against lefties.

Agreed. Wouldn't have been a bad time for it. Roenicke even said earlier this season that Aoki would be his "righty bat" off the bench because he's so good against LHP

I am wishing that this game was televised today, but I will just have to deal with it and tune into Uke and Joe for the first extended period this year.

C'mon Shaun. We need you to go deep in the game today. This was not a good start. Need some quick innings here in the next few frames. Let's hope he can get locked in now

Only have the gamecast up, but not a good start at all here by Marcum. Seems to be struggling with location.

Yeah, a bit wild so far. Watching the Astros telecast, he seemed to get squeezed a bit on the Lee walk. He looked really good against the leadoff hitter. On TV, the location of the pitch that Martinez hit for a double didn't look too bad - he looked to do a nice job of slightly inside-outing a low pitch - but I don't know what the diagram says online.

Most of the pitches seemed pretty close, but it's hard to tell on the gamecast. They did show the highlight of the Martinez double and it was on the outter edge and low in the zone, just a good piece of hitting. At least we got him the lead back!!

Be really nice of Marcum could go deep or if this could be a blowout win and we can let some other guys finish. Really need to rest that pen a little bit.

What I just noticed, my iPhone MLB at bat app (has game day audio) is a good 30 seconds behind gamecast. That's annoying.

What is going on with Marcum here today? 3 walks, 4 hits and a hit batter and a wild pitch in the first 2 innings? Someone mentioned earlier he may be getting squeezed some, but even still that's pretty bad. So much for him saving the bullpen today.

So Altuve is really Rod Carew?

I'm liking the Astros announcers so far. They seem pretty knowledgeable about more than just "casual fan" stuff. They were lauding Altuve during his first AB, but then mentioned that his BABIP was around .400 and said that that's totally unsustainable. Then, lo and behold, he lunges at a pitch in his 2nd AB and gets another hit.

Just one of those games so far, I guess. Bad pitching day and a couple problems in the field (Braun's error and Weeks had a chance to get Altuve at the plate in the first but double-clutched for some reason).
