Bill Simmons did his NBA trade podcast this week. He suggested a Jabari-D'Angelo Russell trade. Who says no? Jabari may never fit next to the Freak, and we could use shooting and point guard play. Interesting one to ponder.

Depends what type of team the Bucks want to build. I haven't figured that out, and I don't think they have either. Do they want a tough defensive team like last season? Do they want to run and gun? Moving forward do they want be a big 3 point shooting team? Because the pieces they have now are all over the map.

If they want to go run and gun, Jabari is a perfect 4 for that. But if they want to rely more on the 3, or defense, he is not a fit. Haven't followed Russell this year, so no idea if that's a good trade or not, honestly.

Far too early to give up on Jabari. 20 years old and barely a season under his belt. He will come around, not everyone peaks at 20 like Brandon Jennings. That said, I'd be actively moving Carter-Williams (if there is any interest) though... kid is regressing.

Thank you. I see lots of people here and elsewhere giving up on Jabari. I think many are skittish about his shot at this point. There's nothing I've seen that worries me about his touch and I'm convinced it will come around. His role in the offense this year has been mostly cleanup work. Pretty sure he's not really allowed to shoot from the outside a la giannis the past few years.

He's worked hard on his body so the work ethic is there which makes me think his defense will come around too so he's at least passable.

Is he serious? If this were actually a feasible scenario I wouldn't even think about it, it's immediate yes. Guards are extremely valuable, we can fill down low with bodies.

Russell could be a star guard. By no means am I saying give up on Jabari in general but passing on elite potential guards is tough for me.

I can't comment on Russell as I haven't followed him either.

But in general, I'm not skittish by Jabari this year. Perhaps its because I kind of expected this from his draft selection (I didn't see a top-10 NBA type player) or maybe I just think he is young and needs more development time than expected, but I'm curious what next year would bring. This is really his rookie year and even the first half of that was limited by his knee.

The second year is really when improvements are made when they can focus on weakspots. And of course, we all know he was healing in the offseason and not working on anything.

Unrelated point to Jabari: I noticed that the top two players in the 3-point contest (Klay Thomas and Stephen Curry) were both from the league's best team. I don't think that is simply a coincidence. I was excited by Monroe and Monroe leads us in PER. But that hasn't really done anything in making us a better team. I think the Bucks would be better to look to Golden State as an example. A stronger outside game + slashing offense tied to a defensive/rebounding focused inside game is the best way to win in today's NBA (and really ever since MJ reigned).

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Since today is trade deadline day, I'll pose this question: If there aren't any trades this year, is that a failure for the Bucks? Any harm of letting the team gel for another 1/2 season?

I think it'll be fine to let them finish out together if there are no moves. See if they play better, hopefully get Vaughn a few more minutes and then revisit this summer.

The roster as it currently sits simply doesn't work, but they can revisit this summer. Maybe make a bigger play for a PG like Rubio?? I really, really wish they could go back and redo that stupid Vasquez trade from last summer. Drastic overpay and he's produced nothing this season.

I see Houston might very well waive Ty Lawson if not traded. The Bucks might want him, he can shoot and pass. He'd be a much better fit than MCW.

Hammonds seems like a guy that isn't really patient to let his "mistakes" work out. If he doesn't think MCW or Monroe is going to work out he is just going to ditch them now instead of waiting for another year.

That being said it has been very quiet so I doubt anything gets done.

That seems to be league wide, so I'm not buying it as a sign of nothing going on. Kind of like when my kids are downstairs and quiet...

I sure hope not, Rubio is a walking injury waiting to happen. MCW looks like Curry compared to Rubio in the shooting department as well.

Jason Kidd really, really wants a pass first PG to run the offense and can make an occasional shot (you know, exactly the player HE was). Teams can win with a PG that is an average or worse shooter if he can pass and run the offense well. The problem for the Bucks, is that other than Middleton, NOBODY in the starting lineup can consistently shoot - Parker and Giannis need to develop this to some extent and the Bucks need a SG that can actually shoot the ball well.

Rumor that Milwaukee kicked the tires on Dwight Howard but only if he agreed to exercise next year's option. Interesting...

I still have a feeling this is part of the problem. Here are two different posters, one talking about what Hammonds wants, one talking about what Kidd wants. Now add two majority Owners to the list, and two other Owners who have a significant stake. So who makes the final decision? I don't believe in consensus, and even if I did consensus usually ends with horrible decisions.

As for Jabari, I'm not "giving up" on him yet. It's just that I don't see him as a major piece on a great team. If Giannis improves his shot, he can be a great player. He already brings a lot to the table. For Jabari to be a great player he has to improve his shot, rebounding, and defense. Sure, that COULD happen, but it's a lot to EXPECT to happen.

I wouldn't give up on Parker but if there is a trade out there that brings in a better player with about the same type of control that the Bucks currently have on Parker I would make the trade. I still don't believe Parker is going to be a super star like player but definitely will be an all star like player or at least the very minimum an above average player.

I still like the Monroe signing the Bucks just need a PG bad. I was hoping Ennis would be that PG but it looks like the injury has slowed him down as much as Parker's injury last year has done to him. Maybe Ennis can become that pass first PG Kidd is looking for and unlike MCW Ennis can actually shoot from deep at a decent rate at least he did at Syracuse.

I also see Ennis with a higher basketball IQ than MCW. To me Ennis is a slower Brandon Knight with a higher basketball IQ.

You severely underestimate how inept Rubio is at shooting. He literally shoots like a 7th grader. I see plenty of it living in Minnesota. I do however really like that Ty Lawson idea.

I want no part of Ty Lawson.

After the horrible experience the Bucks had with Larry Sanders, bringing in another troubled guy (with a super young team) just sounds like a bad idea.

I agree. I would rather see the Bucks play Ennis more at the point than bring in Lawson. At this point in the season what would it hurt to have Ennis play more at PG?

[sarcasm]Well, it might trigger more tanking discussions...[/sarcasm]

Steve Novak? Any interest?

The team could use another shooter, which Novak is, but I don't know how you play that guy when defense has been so inconsistent for Milwaukee all year. He really can't guard anyone.

Jabari seems to really be stepping up his game. If he could develop a consistent outside shot he'd be a force on offense.

Good MCW shows up and takes over the 2nd overtime...really nowhere to be seen pretty much the other 5 quarters. Such a frustrating player, maybe we shouldn't give up on him though because maybe he's just a late bloomer.

Parker played AWESOME the past two nights. I don't get to see many Bucks games but that was a pleasure to see.
