Bucky loses to the Catholics 5-1.

Scores the first goal of the game and then gives up five unanswered.

Just a complete lack of goal scorers on this team.

So this is it for Granato, right? Yeah the program was a disaster when he took over but this is year 6 and he's going to have one tournament appearance barring winning the B1G tournament and getting an auto bid this year and the only tournament appearance they ended up getting boat raced in the opening round. His second best performance is going to be in his first year which is when there were no expectations on the program.

I haven’t looked it up, but I assume Wisconsin is the worst team in the Big Ten since it was founded? Maybe Michigan State has been slightly worse?

Certainly the worst record as a Wisconsin hockey coach by a mile.

 

At this rate by the end of the year the crowds will be about the same size as last year when it was only the parents.

The first coach that needs to go at the UW is Granato.

 

Worst coaching record in program history and this might be the worst team in program history.

 

One of Eaves last squads was worse defensively but this is hands down the worst offensive team in program history.

Yep. Absolutely pathetic. I've been to 4 games and they've scored 3 goals. I've actually witnessed 1 goal(left early against Tech because of my kiddos, and was taking my daughter to the bathroom for another), so in 180 minutes of play I've watched I've seen 1 goal.

I have watched them on and off including last night it's shocking how slow they are on skates. He won't have to worry about too many guys heading for the NHL after this season because I doubt there's more than one or two that could even have a sniff.

Sounds like the NHL is opting out of sending its players to the Olympics. I am seriously disappointed. Olympic hockey with NHL players is probably the best hockey in the world. And it’s not like you can just wait until next year to see it again. I tried watching the Olympic Hockey last time but just couldn’t into it considering I had never heard of any of the players.

The 1980 US Olympic team was pretty exciting. Granted, the Russians were playing with essentially NHL players but I don't think you can convince me that not playing with NHL players made those medal games uninteresting.

Call me spoiled but going from the best players in the World

to players I’ve never heard of takes away a fair amount interest from me. And I’ll watch the World Juniors so it’s not like I won’t watch international hockey if it doesn’t involve NHL players.

 

I’ll probably watch a Team USA game if I’m around and it’s on but I’m not going to go out of my way to watch it, or record it and watch it later, like I otherwise would.

It is a bummer, but to go through covid and the quarantine rules...would have been tough. I believe the NHLPA agreed to it as well, so they obviously realize it woulda been tough to do.

Badgers come back from down 2-0 in the third and beat Providence in a shootout.

Too bad Moe wasn't here last year. By far the best goalie they've had in probably a decade.

No hockey this weekend for Bucky.

Covid outbreak so OSU series cancelled.

 

Games are back on. Saturday and Sunday

Badgers looked better this weekend, of course, it was against a pretty weak MSU team. Though, they did get swept earlier in the year. Going to Moe fulltime was probably smart. Lines have been mixed up which appears to be helping as well. I have been disappointed with the growth of Stange, but Urdahl has been some good run here lately. D pairs have gotten switched around as well.

I know it won't happen this year but the sooner they move on from Granato the better.

Wonder if they could lure away Mike Hastings the coach at Minnesota state Mankato.

Just realized the Big Ten has never had a national champion in hockey.

So on top of being one of the B10 bottom feeders the Badgers are also in one of the weakest p5 hockey conferences.

That was WCHA.

B10 restarted hockey in 2013 I believe.
