Hader's role as a multiple inning relief pitcher is the future of baseball and I like it. I can understand him going into our rotation as well but I don't see how having a reliever that can come in and dominate for 2-3 innings isn't an asset to exploit all next season.

It really is an interesting debate - Hader for 5-6 innings every five games, or 2-3 innings every 3 games.

 

Prior to this game, Thames had a 1.001 OPS for September, and now has four total bases this game. Yes, it is almost exclusively against RHP, but most of the league is RHP. This notion that the league has figured him out is a bit premature.
