Justice is very great, but sports is not real life. Plenty of other luck involved for championship teams, why should we allow line drive outs? If the exit velocity is above 105 mph, the batter should just get a hit. Why should they get an out, just because that's the way its always been? So at some point I think its just best to leave this stuff alone and enjoy the games.

 

I would be ok with electronic umps maybe but only if the calls happen with absolutely zero delay.

I have no problem with instant replay. I have a huge problem with scrutinizing every insignificant close play all year long.

 

Take a look at 2-3 slow mo replays. If you can’t obviously tell the call was wrong, leave it alone and move on. You wouldn’t even need to stop the game, have some guy in NY watch the replays and stop the game when needed.

 

And if you want to painstakingly review close calls in the playoffs...fine. I’m not for it, but I’d get it.

 

But to review a bang-bang play at first in the 4th inning of a game in May is a waste of time and excitement while not changing who wins the World Series, much less almost never impacting who actually wins any given game. And we do it over and over all season long.

It has nothing to do with the Yankees, look at any major sport and how much replay has evolved in the sport the last 20 years or so.

 

I would say it is getting worse, football now has automatic reviews on most scoring plays? Please keep that out of baseball.

 

Even seemingly clear cut Touchdowns, my initial reaction is to wonder if it will stand. Not that instant jubilation. Same thing in baseball. Wow what a play by Arcia!! No, let's wait 5 minutes to see if it was. I really hate replay, and would rather have that instant thrill back and live with bad calls.

I don't understand how everyone doesn't do the college football model. Best way of doing it imo. Stick a guy up in the booth every game, if he needs a couple quick looks at it, he buzzes down. Takes 4-5 looks at it, boom done. It's really that easy. And in most cases of baseball with the dead time you don't have to stop anything, he'll get his 4 looks in while prepping for the next pitch. And in baseball you tell them no dicking around staring at the ump like the managers do now. just go on like normal, if he needs a look he/she will stop it.
