Uecker on Johnny Carson ('82)

I searched and searched for Uecker's first appearance with Johnny and came up with nothing. That was the funniest to me. Carson had never heard of him and producer Freddie DeCordeva didn't gave him any prep.

He had Carson tearing up with laffs as Bob's deadpan delivery was really funny. They used to show that first interview on the Best of Carson about once a year as Carson's funny bone had come off the rails. He kept looking off to the left and right as to say: Who IS this guy!??

Looks like his first appearance was April 8th, 1970.

I'll see what I can do when I'm home later on finding the clip :)

The brand new Milwaukee Brewers first game was the day before if I'm not mistaken.

Really? Wow!

From 1971. Uecker's outfit is killer. A huge belt on the outside of a turtleneck. And the hair is pretty awesome too.

"Another day, another dollar. Four at-bats, another collar."

Dude is funny. His game calls have become cringe-worthy at times, but I'll miss him when he retires.

Listening the other night, "It's a high fly ball to left. 2-2 is the count." So, maybe it went foul, Bob?

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

I'm not sure you could call them "brand new", but definitely certified pre-owned...

He looks like an elf from Lord of the Rings.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Did you guys notice there were 5 guests listed for that 1970 show? Geezers know the show was an hour and a half back then. I don't remember Barbara Anderson but quite familiar with the other 4.

Someone, somewhere MUST have the clip!
