"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

We are also rooting for the blue jays, would be better if they lose and keep the Indians in it an extra game. At this point, I'm hoping they have to play 2 games hard before they get mathematically eliminated.

A lot of pundit conversation today on whether the Cubs will "lay down" or not. Well if Yu pitches the way he has this last month the Cards are in trouble. Personally I don't believe any ball club lays down...ever. The only wrinkle is who Maddon puts on the lineup card.

Darvish is shut down for the year, so is Hendricks.

Yu isn’t pitching

As long as the Indians win tonight the game Saturday will for sure still mean something. If the Brewers do their part they should at least have the top Wild Card.

Really? Surprising as Hendricks has been scuffling

No Bryant, Rizzo or Heyward, but those guys have been pretty much crap lately. Otherwise this is their regular lineup. I think the Cubs are going to give the Cardinals all they can handle this weekend.

That said, the Cards have lost two in a row to a team that had nothing to play for. If they let the Brewers sneak into the division title, it's on them.

Martinez named Scherzer the starter for the Wild Card game. Strasburg and Corbin will be available out of the pen.

It would be nice to not have to play in that game if you are the Brewers. If you have to, lets get it in Milwaukee.

Maddon said to reporters I don't give a sh*t what Milwaukee thinks about my playing prospects in the next 3 games" Gotta watch Sports Center to see if that's accurate.

That’s actually a better lineup than I expected from the cubs

Indians tied up the Nats.

Their only hope to catch the Cardinals is for their offense to go quite. The Cubs aren’t going to be scoring a ton with the line ups they throw around.

8 runs seems like it might be enough. Of course, the Cubs pen is a dumpster fire. ;)

Calf strain for Braun.

Not good news.

He seemed pretty optimistic when interviewed in the clubhouse after the game. Said it feels better now than it did when he was pulled. Doubt he's in the lineup tomorrow either way, though.
