Trade Deadline Rumors

I mean if Daniel Norris can be considered an upgrade in the bullpen I am sure we could find someone we consider an upgrade at 1B or 3B.

Tigers in talks with Brewers on Daniel Norris, I’m told.

This makes me think this guy is full of it though. Usually you never know what the Brewers are doing until Rosenthal tweets "X player going to the Brewers". Very rarely do our trades get leaked before they happen.

There are two sides to each trade. Even if you believe the Brewers never have leaks come out on their end (debatable) the other side may not have quite as tight lipped of an organization.

I'm pretty sure Stearns saw my post and wanted to make me look stupid.

Clearly one of those instances where they think they can change something in order for him to be successful because on the surface he has pretty terrible numbers. At least the cost won't be high.

Why tho

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

I think they are simply acquiring him to be a lefty specialist. He is absolutely terrible against RH batters....like .900+ OPS bad.

.200 average and .555 OPS against LH hitters. .277 SLG

I don't think they really expect to fix that. Certainly not when it is essentially August.

RHBs hitting .333 with 25 hits in 19 innings. That's not an upgrade over Gustave for last man in the pen.

Now do his numbers against LHHs

Speculated that they were looking for another lefty reliever. Norris appears to be the guy.

Eww, don't like this one at all. What am I missing about Norris?

His ERA inflated, per his FIP of 3.78. He's been productive in the past two season, but not so much this year. Likely hurt by his bad Tigers team, but also possible they see something they can tweak to make him effective again.

Phillies, Brewers among many teams checking on Ian Kennedy. Everyone in contention wants/needs relief.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Throws hard. Very tough on lefties. Been pitching much better for the last couple weeks. Was solid last year.

Not an exciting move for sure, but is exactly the type of under-the-radar bullpen move that this front office has been known to do. They've certainly earned some benefit-of-the-doubt on these types of guys.

Dominant against lefties and it barely cost us anything. This will be all worth it when Norris strikes out Seager, Bellinger and Muncy in the 7th inning of the NLCS clinching game.

The Brewers and Giants are still looking to add an impact bat, per source. The Blue Jays are also seeking a bat, even after dealing two top prospects for Jose Berríos.

Just saw that the asking price on Trevor Story is dropping. Doesn't take a lot to connect the dots there. What are the odds that the Brewers were the team exploring the idea of Trevor Story playing CF?
