The Timber Rattlers have the sole early game today, trying to break a 4-game skid. Hopefully Kekai Rios and his surprisingly hot bat (7-game hitting streak, 1.138 OPS last 58 PAs) can lead the squad to victory:

1 - Zamora - SS

2 - Valerio - DH

3 - Warren - 3B

4 - Gray - CF

5 - McGee - 1B

6 - Rios - C

7 - L. Castillo - RF

8 - Rodriguez - LF

9 - Pinero - 2B

X - Castaneda - P

Zach Mort takes the mound for the Mudcats, who need to stop their 4-game skid. He aims for a third straight terrific start (1.42 ERA with 18 Ks in 12.2 innings in winning his last 2 games):

Carolina wins 3-1. Martinez (4-5, 2B) leads the way with Frelick & Black both posting 1-3, 2 BB lines and Zack Raabe chipping in a pair of hits. Zach Mort had a nice start (5 IP, 1 ER, 5 K) with Kent Hasler striking out 3 in his 1.2 IP while recent Indy League signee James Meeker picked up the save & appears to have struck out 5 while only recording 4 outs on account of an Alex Hall passed ball.

Nashville pulled out a 3-2 win with Dustin Peterson driving in a pair & Turang walking thrice. Kind of a blah melange of a AAA bullpen game on the pitching side, though Topa picked up the win with a scoreless eighth.

Speaking of Meeker, I'm curious if the Brewers are going to push him soon. He's 26, and doesn't seem to be challenged by indy ball or low A.
