Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids have resumed yesterday’s rain-delayed game in Appleton, with the Timber Rattlers trailing 5-0 in the 3rd inning.

RHP Miguel Guerrero has taken over where RHP Zach Mort left off yesterday.

After dropping the series opener, RHP Justin Jarvis (4.11 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 10.0 K/9 in 70 innings) takes the hill for Wisconsin at home against Cedar Rapids to try to knot things up 1-1. 22-year old switch hitter 2B Jose Acosta has been a nice addition to the team this month (.743 OPS in 53 plate appearances):

The Low-A Mudcats won the series opener at home against Fayetteville, so look to double their advantage with 20-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.44 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 11.0 K/9 in 55 innings) on the mound tonight. 19-year old SS Eduardo Garcia continued his terrific June (.890 OPS this month) with a 3-for-4 effort yesterday:

Solid Timber Rattlers' victory in Game Two. Justin Jarvis - 1 run, 1 hit, 10 Ks in 5 innings of work. Sweet!  And Zavier Warren reminds us not to sleep on his prospect status: 2-run homer to grab a 3-1 lead. Cam Robinson keeps doing Cam things: 3-up, 3-down final frame with 2 Ks for his 18th save of 2022.

I know the Midwest League isn't know for its early season offense, but outside of a couple early rough outings from Jarvis, 4/5 of Wisconsin's opening day rotation has performed outstanding there this year.

AA Biloxi strives for a 3rd straight win, with exceptional RHP Victor Castaneda (2.75 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 52 1/3 innings) starting tonight at home against Mississippi. Nationals' 2014 3rd round pick C Jakson Reetz has a 7-game hitting streak as part of yet another monster month (1.041 April OPS, 1.066 May OPS, .967 June OPS):

What's more? Pitching Coach Will Schierholz also helped fine-tune Rhyne Moore's stuff after two struggle-filled early starts. He's clearly been doing some fantastic work with the staff. Russ Smith had by far his best outing of his season his last time out. Hopefully, that keeps trending as well. As you point out, lots to love down in High-A.

The AAA Sounds seek to bounce back with a win tonight to tie their series 1-1 at home against Indianapolis, sending red-hot RHP Caleb Boushley (2.97 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 6.3 K/9 in 75 2/3 innings this year) to start this one. 1B Jon Singleton is starting to feel like himself again (5-for-last-14, 2 HRs, double, 3 walks):

Apparently, Zavier Warren was able to punch in his rbi's (in both games) including his 4th home run with family in attendance. Man, that is just the stuff. So happy for him. Going back to watch Jarvis' outing, they had the bullpen up early as he was scuffling with tough AB's and a quickly elevating pitch count. It's a testament to him that he calmed down and found that groove. The sole run came off a 2-out solo shot. All told, T-Rats pitchers went 13 innings with a mere 3 hits allowed.

Not to be missed is the longest outing for Tyler Gillies (Game 1 - 3 complete scoreless innings) since 2019. Great stuff, Tyler!

NO ACL or DSL games today for our beloved affiliates, but, here's a tasty nugget from the epic Brewers PD twitter:

18:1 k:bb ratio? To quote Adam McCalvy: Sweet Sassy molassy!

It's back to the showers early for Alexander Cornielle who has his worst outing of the season:

2 2/3 ip, 6 ER, 6 hits, 3 bb's, 2 HR, 4 k's

It's now 7-1 Woodpeckers headed to the top of the fifth. Jose Sibrian did manage to double home Zach Raabe in the bottom of the fourth. Pablo Garabitos is in his second inning of work.

Andruw Monasterio is now 6-for-6 in his first two games as a Shucker. He hits a 2-run shot in the bottom of the first to score Noah Campbell (lead off walk). It's now 4-3 Braves as Victor Castaneda scuffled a bit in an abbreviated second start since his IL return going 2 2/3 innings using 73 pitches.

Tyler White walks and Jon Singleton triples to send him home.

What are: "Things you thought you'd never see in a baseball game?"

Well, hold that thought ye doubters! That's Jonny Muscles second triple of the 2022 season.

And Pablo Reyes has left the yard with a tying two-run shot. It's now 4-4 in the top of the fifth. Indy at the dish and there is one down.

The young Mudcats have their rally caps on here in the bottom of the ninth. A Hedbert Perez double followed by a Zach Raabe sac fly have plated two. After a Sibrian walk, we have men on first and second and 1 down. It's now 5-8 as they try to claw back into this one!

Doh! Zach Vennarro just gave up a 2-run HR to right field on a pitch that found far too much center plate. It appeared to be in the general location Reetz was calling for, but the Braves lefty batter turned and blasted it over the wall in right. 0 outs. Now 6-5 Braves. Boooooo!

OH BABY!!!! HOP ABOARD MY REETZ TRAIN!!!!!! With two down. And the outlook bleak on a 1-2 count Jakson JAKS a two-run BOMB over the wall in left. Oh my lawwwwwwwd, he does it AGAIN. The Shuckers walk it off again. I may have yipped and lept from my seat baby.

Reetz having an amazing year ….especially considering his history.

Another 0-5 for Wiemer………..

The 0-for-5 was not a pretty 0-for-5 either. He's pressing. He appears to be hoping for a fastball but is getting a lot of offspeed and he's in front of things and pressing. A first pitch pop up on a breaking ball with a man on followed by a strikeout on another off-the-plate pitch (appeared to be a slider). His body language appeared to say: 'frustrated'. BUT, this being said, he made a very nice diving stop in Center to save a hit in the eighth.

But, man, Jakson has literally been on another level all season long. The count was 1-2. But, he was ready. He pounced on that pitch with anger. It was an awesome moment.

Sit back and enjoy a professional hitter on a 1-2 count muscling an off-speed breaking ball over the wall in left with one arm. The pitch before this was a 91 mph rising inside heater that Jakson was late on:

NOT to be overlooked for the Shuckers tonight:

Thomas Dillard is heating up. I hinted at this a couple weeks back: he was due and if his bat heated up so would his OPS. Well, he's up to a 0.231 BA and a 0.740 OPS after tonight's 3-for-5 two run outing. He hopped aboard there with 2 down in the ninth on a first pitch smash under the 1B glove into right field. That was the tying run. He's gotten better as the season has progressed. He's become one of my favorite players in the lower levels. He is always available. He gives you great AB's. I'm a fan.

I was hoping Wiemer would be a call-up at some point in the season, but he's been pretty bad for the month of June. Hope he finishes strong.
