Wisconsin leads their series in Quad Cities 4-1 as RHP Justin Bullock goes for his 2nd win of the week (6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 4 Ks on Tuesday). 1B Zavier Warren has an 8-game hitting streak and 15-game on-base streak:

The Mudcats kick off the day, needing a win to clinch a 4-2 series win at home against Kannapolis, with RHP Fernando Olguin (4.85 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 8.9 K/9) making his first appearance in 10 days. DH/C Jeferson Quero comes in with an 8-game hitting streak:

I know catchers are handled differently than any other position in terms of promotions.. but any chance of Quero promotion soon? Any catchers in the ACL performing that could backfill? Quero is pretty impressive.

Biloxi’s targeting its 5th win in 6 games in Mississippi, with RHP Victor Castaneda aiming for a 3rd straight solid start (11 IP, 2 ER, 8Ks over last 2 outings). Leadoff CF Corey Ray has a 6-game hitting streak:

Yeah, I expect Quero to move up to Wisconsin soon, making room for newly drafted Matthew Wood (4th rounder), though Wood exited Thursday’s ACL Blue game early so that may also factor in.

But if they want to have Quero up as early as Tuesday, it shouldn’t be a problem, as the Mudcats have veteran Jose Sibrian and young Jesus Garcia, while the Timber Rattlers could use an extra bat with such a short bench.

Back-and-forth game in Zebulon to start the day, now 5-5 in the 5th inning as both teams go to their bullpens. 1B Jesus Chirinos continues his recent power surge with a 2-run shot to tie it (9th of the year). DH/C Jeferson Quero is 3-for-3 with a double.

Good start for Avina with Carolina to say the least. Another homer for him.

Phenomenal. Getting HS developmental  talents like Jace Avina, Kay-Lan Nicasio, and Reece Walling in the 14th round, 16 round, and UDFA is how you build serious minor league depth.

LHP Ethan Small (3.24 season ERA) is on the mound to snap Nashville’s 2-game skid and give them a 4-2 series win in Norfolk. SS Pablo Reyes comes in with a 20-game on-base streak:

recency bias is forcing me to consider putting Avina in my top 10.

The Jace crush is becoming quite real. There's just so much there to like beyond baseball as well - by every measure from an outside perspective he seems to just literally get what's important in life. Hard not to be falling hard for this young man. This early production in a step up in competition is quite literally bonkers.

Through 2 Low-A games, Avina has a very sustainable 2.111 OPS. ?

The ongoing struggles of RHP Joey Matulovich continue in Wisconsin. They've really needed him to step in another direction since the many call-ups and, unfortunately, he's been struggling quite often of late. Let's hope he turns it around.

RHP Victor Castañeda is starting to stack outings again as he furthers his time away from his IL stint. This is very encouraging to see him add another quality start - his second in a row. 1B Thomas Dillard continues his surge. OF Tristen Lutz continues his tear of the past month plus. An entire starting outfield gets promoted, and the Shuckers roster says: "We'll go about our buisness." Such a tremendous series for manager Mike Guerrero and his young men. To potentially go 5-1 at Mississippi is such a huge boost of confidence and brings them within meaningful distance within the standings.

FYI: Old friend LHP Antoine Kelly was promoted to AA and is starting for Frisco tonight.

Some other old friends: JT Hintzen blew a save in his first appearance for AA Erie. OF Abraham Almonte is mashing for AAA Worcester (1.002 OPS). OF David Dahl isn’t doing much for AAA Rochester. OF Tristan Peters is 4-for-13 for AA Richmond.

Looks like Wiemer left the game. Hopefully nothing serious.

This is what we’ve got:

Other than a bullpen blown game by Wisconsin we are close to another 3-1 affiliate evening. Sounds lead 8-4 late. Now, if the Brewers could get their act together…

Choice cuts from Brewers PD:

First, the Shookster’s recent dominant outing:

Next, we have switch-hitting Nicasia’s vastly improved production of late (of which my stalwart cohort @damuelle so keenly alluded to this past week):

And, lastly we see DSL Brewer RHP Daurys Mora’s recent run of excellence:

It'd been kinda leaked or prematurely reported that Kelly had been promoted to AA for the Brewers as well, correct?

Yeah, but that 3-player promotion leak hasn't grown legs, since one player was instead traded and one has not moved from his current level, although the third player (Peters) was in fact promoted (and then traded).

The other leak (3 OF to AAA) proved correct.

A Roster Movement/Speculation Discussion thread had been set up for such rumors to be posted and discussed going forward.
