Final: DSL Nationals 5, DSL Brewers2 0 (seven innings as scheduled)
Box Score / Game Log

DSL Brewers 2’s game was encouraging for a while, as 18-year old RHP Daniel Corniel (5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 8 Ks) carried a no-hitter into the 5th inning, but at some point in this game you need to actually score.

Putting runners on base in six of the game’s seven innings didn’t work out for the club today, dropping Deuces’ record to 24-26 on the season. The team went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position, stranding seven men on base and having another three players thrown out on the basepaths, including two in the final inning.

The Nationals finally broke through against Corniel via with a leadoff single and RBI double in the 5th inning, though to Corniel’s credit he still finished the frame with his team only down 1-0.

18-year old C/1B Eric Martinez (.298 average, .861 OPS) doubled and walked, while 18-year old SS Demetrio Nadal (.231 average, .685 OPS) singled twice, walked and stole his 15th base of the year to lead the offensive effort.

Of course, Deuces missed the bat of proven producer 1B/OF Yeison Perez, who exited Friday’s game early and didn’t play today.

- RHP Brady Schanuel (4.06 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 37 2/3 innings) gets his 1st start in the 100th appearance of his career, as Wisconsin is likely making this a bullpen game (note: regularly-scheduled starting RHP Justin Bullock left his last start early). The Timber Rattlers' series at home against South Bend is tied 2-2, as the team welcomes SS Eduardo Garcia back for his first action since leaving Wednesday's game early:

how often has Turang played 2B?

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

First time since August 4, 2019. Hopefully this is to get him experience at the position, so he can claim it in MLB next year.

Delmarva is 36-70 for a reason, so maybe we should temper the enthusiasm just a bit... ?

Since July 1st

39IP 27H 8ER 10BB (5 In one game) 49K

So roughly 11k/9 (30%k) 2.5bb/9 (7%). Sub .200 batting average, sub 2.00 ERA, sub 1 WHIP. A Mid 3 FIP

Even more impressive, since May 12th:

Stat line: 78.2IP 59H 29ER 30BB 103K

11.78K/9 (31.5%),  3.43 BB/9 (9.5%) for a 22k% to bb%,

2.71 ERA / 4.00 FIP /.208 BAA, 1.14 WHIP

So he just keeps getting stronger! I say lets get this hype train rolling for the 20 year old!

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)
