Only had an OPS+ of 87 last season, not exactly inspiring, hopefully just a bench bat or NRI

I can't wait to hear Brian Anderson call Brian Anderson games though

No way, he’s our starting 3B, moving Urias to 2B.

Anderson has been a good player, wasnt healthy last year.

From 2018-2020 Brian Anderson was good. The last two years not so much

2021 he has an OPS+ of 94, and last year it was even worse at 87. This would be like when they handed 3b to Travis Shaw a couple years ago

Not much to be excited about. He hasn’t been any good for a few years. But unsullied he’s a legit excuse for Turang service time shenanigans and he’s still relatively young

Good insurance policy for 3B/RF.

If he hits like 2018-20 (115 wRC+) could be a nice signing, if he hits like 2021-22 (93 wRC+) prolly won’t be much of an upgrade over what we already have.

Brewers have managed to get their hands on another RHH with career reverse splits. We are just stacking up this team to destroy RHP again.

I understand it, but it doesn't thrill me.  Really hope it was a cheap signing.

I guess we can pretty much say for certainty that Turang will not be on the opening day roster with this move.

I'm not expecting much, so I hope this pays off.

CC doesn't care about splits, if he is a RHH he must crush lefties, it is only logical.

This trade also cements the fact that there will be no trades happening for a 3B either.

Looks like the opening day offensive roster is pretty much a done deal now.

I’d imagine you didn’t see anyone say “sign anyone regardless of their quality as a player”

Not sure the deal yet… But awesome signing!

I love this move!! Urias to 2B.

We can't possibly know this is awesome until we see what he is getting paid.

1 year 4 million, ok...

2 years 22 million, not awesome at all.

This adds depth to the IF at the very least. They now have the option of playing Urias at 2B, where he profiles best. However, Anderson hasn’t been the greatest with the bat over the past two seasons…If he can OPS over 700 and put up a WAR at or above 1.5, I’ll be happy.

I really don’t see the need to keep Turang in AAA any longer, other than to gain an extra year of control. He’s been there for 1.5 seasons already…I do like that this allows him to fill the Jace Peterson role, which is better than relying on him to be the starter at 2B right away.

Wrote up a quick piece that I'll edit more in the morning.

Righty bat with reverse splits a la Keston Hiura. Strange.

Come on Brock. You don’t need sleep! We’re talking about the move of the decade here.

He was nontendered because he was set to make like $5-6 M in his final arb season. The financial comittment is going to be low.

Isn't he redundant with Brosseau, except Brosseau hits lefties better?   He plays as much OF as 3B too.   But is RH like Tyrone.   Maybe this puts Tyrone into more of CF timeshare with Mitchell.   With the other article tonight...adds another complexity to the mix.  Maybe with his position versatility we can save 2 roster spots with 1 (bye bye Keston).   Lots of moves yet to come with so many non optionable players.

In other words they still kinda stink vs lefties.

Miami acquired Groshans at deadline last season and he took over the majority of 3b games. Miami also played Joey Wendle around the infield and 3b. All but 3 of BA's OF games came after the trade.

Brosseau has a worse fielding pct than Urias at 3b BA is better than both with an upper tier arm strength throwing to 1st.

Jace Peterson comp works defensively for 3b. Jace was only above avg defense they had at 3b.

The EV for BA his 2 solid seasons touched 90+ avg.  The other seasons about 88 reducing his numbers.

Depth for 3b defense but lower batting ability. Sorta a sideways move and it adds questions towards Turang's OD status.

If the team moves Hiura this makes perfect sense.
