I don’t know what the Brewers are supposed to do with Luke Voit. He basically seems like a poor man’s Keston Hiura seeing far too many of his AB vs LHP. Really just feel like they need to dump him and find someone somewhere that can respectably hit LHP.

Voit since the start of last season has a 53 wRC+ in 191 PA vs LHP with a 38% K-rate. With Winker and Rowdy on the team he’s going to be seeing a good chunk if not most of his PA vs LHP. It’s really just a bad roster fit. He’s also whiffing on 40% of his swings this season which is the same rate Keston whiffed last year.

This only means he’ll have a 1.800 OPS against LHP going forward because righties hit lefties regardless of what the splits say.  😁

Voit has looked decent to me so far this season, certainly made plays last night that keston and rowdy wouldn't, but also barreled up some balls well, just not hitting the gaps. He could be a trade option for Phillies potentially but even so I like his production so far and is currently outperforming winker

Voit has a 56 wRC+ compared to Winker's 72 wRC+. His peripheral numbers are also worse than Winker's as well. Also his 0.07 BB/K ratio is 12th worst in the MLB out of 332 hitters with at least 40 PA.

Getting Taylor (109 career wRC+) and Urias (120 career wRC+) back will help against LHP. But the Voit experiment has to be nearing an end unless he suddenly picks it up with the bat. It's getting to the point where I'd rather have Hiura, whose K% has decreased over the last week or so in AAA (SSA I know).

Voit is basically Keston Hiura at this point. Since the start of last season, he's become a huge reverse split guy. He just doesn't fit the role we are trying to put him in (also why Hiura shouldn't be called up as long as Winker is on the roster).

Since 2022 Voit's xwOBA vs RHP in .348 in 420 PA (really good number) and his xwOBA vs LHP is .246 in 189 PA (really bad). We are basically using Voit as a weak side platoon guy right now which is a horrible misuse.

Thinking about it more, Voit probably has until Taylor returns. Once Taylor is back, we can just go with Taylor/Wiemer in RF, Anderson at 3B and Brosseau at 1B against LHP....And then Contreras at DH, with Caratini catching. Still probably one above average against LHP hitter short, but that can be taken care of at the deadline.

Probably correct. Winker is probably going to get a much longer leash than Voit but honestly at the moment I would rather have Voit and Rowdy fill our 1B and DH spots against RHP than Rowdy and Winker. I'm beginning to get mildly worried that Winker is just washed. He wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire before he got sick .334 xwOBA in 31 PA but it's still been way worse since he returned .230 xwOBA in 31 PA. Plus Winker's batted ball data is pretty horrific.

Voit's overall numbers are worse but he's looked good vs RHP this year and the underlying numbers back that up.

Good to see Contreras DHing. That should be the default option against LHP to get him rest from C and keep his bat in the lineup. 135-140 GP needs to be the goal.

Would prefer to see Rowdy at 1B instead of Voit, but if you're going to still have him on the roster, might as well play him. Due for a dinger one of these days.

This was the day I thought made most sense for him to DH so good to see he is DH'ing. Do not like seeing Voit in against a LHP. Would very much prefer Rowdy or even Brosseau at 1B and Turang/Perkins to make our defense a bit more sound.

The Good: Milwaukee is 17-9.

The Bad: They're still somehow behind... the Pittsburgh Pirates?

The Ugly: St Louis. LOL

Aside from their series against the Dodgers and the Astros, the Pirates' schedule has been pretty laughable to this point. I do think it's becoming clear, though, that they'll probably settle around the mid 70s to low 80s in wins rather than the 60s/low 70s they've been at over the last 8 years, But Connor Joe and Andrew McCutchen (at this point in his career) aren't the MVP candidates they're hitting like right now. And it's hard to believe that Rich Hill will stay healthy and that Vince Velasquez has suddenly figured it out at age 30 after being a downright terrible pitcher his entire career. Contreras, Oviedo, and Keller are nice arms, though. Overall, hard to see the Pirates becoming buyers and parting with the necessary prospect capital to acquire difference makers at this stage in their rebuild.

I think they're going to sit Turang this entire series and give him a reset after a tough stretch at the plate. Colorado and some righties could be helpful for him.

How is Luis Urias progressing on his injury recovery?

No news. He was put on the 60-day IL so he's not eligible to return until May 31st.

I think Taylor replaces Perkins…….not sure what Voit’s leash is…..maybe eventually they swap him out for Hiura or dfa him when Urias returns.

He has been good defensively but that isn’t going to be good enough if he doesn’t start hitting.

I'd rather go back to having 4 true OFs. Perkins is fine imo as a 4th OF/late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner type. Voit is a waste if he's not going to hit LHP.
