Slugged .344 in 547 ABs in 2022.....

And a much larger sample with plenty of slugging for his career. He had surgery and was sick for a while. With his OBP being what it is, we have time to wait for him to find his power stroke.

Yeah he needs a little more of a leash but no reason to ignore the last 600+ ABs. Answering my own question, I think he will get at least another month.

Plus if they cut him……..and then Hiura comes up and sucks……we have lost our depth.

They didn’t trade for Winker not to play him………we are 35 games in……sigh

Last year he had two separate injuries...This year he's coming off surgery and was sick for a while. He's got plenty of time. Rarely do 29 year olds with his history just lose their power unless injured.

Comparing the Bregman and Winker situations is laughable. Bregman still has a .6 WAR because he provides defense. When you are a DH, you kinda need to produce at the plate.

Plus I am sure Bregman had a cold or something so then those stats don't matter or something.

Hey let's compare two guys that provide a lot of value on defense with a designated hitter.... jfc.

Jesse Winker career slash line, 29 years old: .269/.373/.456

Alex Bregman career slash line, 29 years old: .274/.373/.490

Where did I say stats don't matter? I am simply providing context. If by the all-star break he's still slugging below .300, then yeah I'm sure the Brewers will look at making a change. But we're not even close to that point yet, even if you want it to be.

Except for the fact that we're talking exclusively about hitting here...Or at least I am. You know what's quite valuable? a .356 OBP in the #2 slot in the batting order!

Cool, you answered the original question which is when you make a move. The rest of the stuff is just things you made up in your head.

No. I'm the one who actually provided stats and context. You just bloviated about how you want to cut ties with Winker and Voit soon.

This was the original question I asked "Didn't want to bring this up in a loss but at what point do we drop Winker/Voit and give Hiura a chance? I know he isn't generally liked on the board but DH is giving us nothing."

Again, you just make up stuff.

Stats and context? What's made up about the fact that he he's been good slugging in his career, he had two separate injuries last season that clearly impacted his power stroke, he's coming off surgery and a lengthy illness while playing in just 24 games, and he's got an OBP of .356 (#2 on the team). You tell me, wally....

The made up part of me saying to cut him now after asking, because you know this is a forum, when we should move on.

(good edit by the way adding soon because you know you f'ed up)

Late to the party, and the last thing I expected to see was anything even remotely close to talk about how much more time to give Winker. If he's healthy & putting up the quality of ABs he's been putting up, you give him until, oh, the end of the season. The only other options out there are those not as good, or too costly to pony up for.

Amidst all the positives tonight, my hidden stat of the day is that Ty Taylor, in 23 PAs since returning, has struck out only twice. If he starts to windmill, I'll take full jinx responsibility.

In fairness, they've jettisoned Wong who has the worst Defensive runs saved in the league at -8 and has hit really poorly so far this season. It's almost already a win

He's going to have Uncle Guido pay you a visit after he sports a golden sombrero tonight.
