This series goes right along with the 5-game sweep at Pittsburgh going into the All-Star Break a few years ago.  I believe that may have been a year where we actually made the postseason though (maybe even 2018!)

Actually you can't even compare the two at all. While embarrassing, the Pirates had a winning record that season. This A's team is on pace to win less than 40 games. Only two other teams in the modern era can say that.

This is the rock bottom and hopefully the brewers will not be sellers. I rather see them become sellers

If they drop below 500 and fall four or five games back I could see them become sellers but I'm worried that as long as they're above 500 and sniffing first place the management team will be too scared of the public backlash of a sell-off.

If management is afraid of how fans will react to a fire sale, especially when those fans are wrong, they need to find another line of work.

I love it that Erceg comes on to beat the Brewers.  A guy they gave away for nothing while the likes of Singleton, Monasterio, Perkins and Sousa remain on the 40 man.  Time to demote Strzlecki, he has noting right now.  Should go down to A ball and prove his way back.

The entire Erceg situation is puzzling to say the least.  This is a guy we could definitely use  and to give him away for nothing was just plain stupid.

Maybe.  But we have many others to choose from.  Perhaps Suppan in the 2011 playoffs was total humiliation.

Don't forget Shaun Marcum!

He has 8 walks and in 12 innings, and isn’t even 2:1 in K:BB ratio.  Let’s cool it a minute, before anointing him as one that got away.

As to other matters:  I'm happy for Andreew McCutchen to have a day in his town.  He wasn't the guy for us, but he deserves good.

Good guy... Just a case of the wrong place at the wrong time for him last year.

Woah, woah, woah now.  The Brewers hardly gave Erceg away.  Attanasio probably got about 10,000 in cash as a result of that deal.  Absolutely critical to get that money to keep the franchise afloat until Attanasio can get his 360 million dollar handout from the state.

Happy for Erceg that he's getting his shot. But come on, he isn't good and isn't one to worry about giving away, even for a bag of balls.

Can we please stop with the “handout” crap. This was agreed to and signed years ago and should be honered just like any agreement between parties agreed to should be honored.  Jeesh.
