Very rough times going on in the DSL and ACL for the Brewers right now. With both DSL teams looking like they are going to lose today, that would have those 3 teams combined to lose their last 17 games with the most recent win being Brewers DSL 1 beating Brewers DSL 2.

Final: DSL Guardians Red 19, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 10

Box Score / Game Log

The Ceveceros Prime Number scored in five different innings, including a five-run 5th.

The Guardians "Rojo" only scored in three innings. Unfortunately, they pushed across eight runs in the 4th and then ten runs in the 8th. The Crew went from one run up to nine runs down after that fateful frame.

18-year-old Nicaraguan native RHP Nestor Mena salvaged mound respectability. Although he allowed his inherited runner to score, Mena managed to toss 2.2 scoreless. The final 8th inning pitches were tossed by C/1B Brayan Oropeza (three runs allowed), forced into action when 16-year-old Saul Sanchez, another Nicaragua native, could not retire any of the seven men he faced to start the inning. Ironically, Sanchez pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning. All three Cerveceros errors in the game came in that eight-run Guardians 4th.

Top 2023 $$ signing LF Yophery Rodriguez finished only 1-for-4 with three K's, but he drove in four on a three-run HR (2nd of his brief career) and a sacrifice fly. Congratulations to 19-year-old C/1B Yannic Walther (DH'ing here) on the first professional homer for the young man from Germany.

I continue to be mesmerized by the lines posted by 17-year-old (thus far utility INF/OF) Dominican native Tyler Rodriguez. Batting in the 9-spot, Rodriguez reached all four plate appearances (single, two walks, HBP). Rodriguez' line through 36 plate appearances is .182/.472/.182. Eight walks, five plunkings, a reasonable six K's. Mix in four stolen bases in six attempts.

After a fast start, this Brewers club has fallen to 10-9, and have dropped their last four games.

Final: DSL Dodgers Mega 6, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 2

Box Score / Game Log

This isn't a loss to the still-undefeated Dodgers Bautista team, which is remarkably now at 19-0! (DSL Standings)

You'll notice Team Dos has now lost six in a row at that standings link.

Only four base knocks for the good guys, but one was the first professional home run (and RBI) for 19-year-old 2nd year Colombian C/1B Estefano Lozano, who has seen limited time.

Youngster (aren't nearly all of them?) SS Filippo Di Turi, 17 years old, continues to show patience, walking thrice in this one. Impressive numbers in Di Turi's first 19 games - .338/.453/.408 (.861 OPS, 13 RBI, more BB's than K's). Not so impressive - two SB in nine attempts! Hopefully Filippo builds his skills in that regard in future years and laughs about this SB stretch when he's standing in Am-Fam for the first time.

The pitching efforts were non-descript. The one true rookie was starting RHP Linbel Jimenez, an 18-year old Dominican.

The Low-A Mudcats, who trail their series 2-0 at Down East, send RHP Alexander Vallecillo (3.33 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 24 1/3 IP) to the mound to turn their luck around. With a .782 OPS in this month of June, 20-year old DH/OF Hedbert Perez moves up to second in the batting order.

By contrast, the High-A Timber Rattlers target a 5th straight win tonight, playing at Quad Cities. RHP Tyler Woessner (2.70 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 66 2/3 IP) gets the start and 2B Robert Moore comes in with a 17-game on-base streak.

According to the game notes, RHP James Meeker has the lowest % BB rate in the whole of the minor leagues (min, 30 innings). He makes his 2nd spot start tonight as Biloxi tries to go up 3-0 in their home series against Mississippi. DH/C Wes Clarke has an .883 OPS over the past 41 games (169 PAs).

AAA Nashville can also take a 3-0 series lead with a victory at Memphis tonight. RHP Jason Alexander aims for a 2nd straight solid rehab start (4.2 scoreless innings last outing). 6’1” Cam Devanney, who’s 9-for-his-last-21 with 6 extra base hits, gets a start at first base.

Nightmare start for Wisconsin: walk, triple, single, homer off Woessner before recording an out. Down 4-0. Then 3B Eduardo Garcia exited 2 plays later after being injured recording a 5-3 ground ball out. All in the bottom of the 1st inning.

After losing Fernandez to injury and Lazar to promotion, the active roster was already down to 26 players (vs. 30 standard). The team may end up having to promote some players from Carolina whether they’re ready or not.

I see the DSL Uno gave up 10 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning? Man, there have been some massive breakdown innings amongst the DSL/ACL triumvirate the past couple of weeks. As @wiguy94 alluded to above: it has been a very very rough stretch.

Also, the Dodgers literally just keep beating every DSL/ACL Brewers club. I think they are on a 10-game winning streak vs. the Crew?

While Biloxi, Wisconsin and Carolina get mauled tonight…

Nashville’s 8 games over .500, with someone different stepping up each evening. Tonight, it’s Patrick Dorrian with a 3-run homer in the 4th inning to put ‘em in front 3-1. Go Sounds!

Yeah, rough night on the farm for sure.

Few bright spots for Biloxi, Tyler Black (2-4, 2B), Jeferson Quero (3-4) and Felix Valerio (2-3).

Down in Carolina Jadher Areinamo went 2-3 with a double, but was lifted for a PH in his final plate appearance.

Wisco had Ernesto Martinez (1-3, HR) and Ben Metzinger (2-3, 2B) with the only real pop while Ryan Brady threw four scoreless with 4 K and only 2 H to drop his ERA down to 2.76 over 49 frames.

I've noticed my guy Cam is getting some run at 1B lately. I don't know if he'd ever be "the answer" there in Milwaukee, but the bat & the versatility make him a real contender for a roster spot. He's a fav of mine.

Mine as well. I think he can be an infield version of Tyrone. Honestly I hope he gets a chance at some point this season. He’s mashed LHP his whole minor league career.
