Hiura 2023 AAA….. .316 AVG, 13 HR, .390 OBP, .975 OPS,

pre-injury: 134 PA | 331/396/678 (156 wRC+)
post-injury: 61 PA | 283/377/377 (97 wRC+)

Hiura hasn't quite regained his pre-injury mojo since returning to the lineup.

Well, that provides some explanation to something that was to this point inexplicable re. Rowdy...

But, where is Hiura? Would be nice to find out if he's figured it out before the deadline.

Not a fan of the bullpen moves either...What does Abner Uribe have to do?

Since coming back Winker has done just enough when combined with the timing of Huira's injury and return that he has bought himself more time. The Brewers tend to give players with recent track records a solid chance to turn things around. He hasn't done a lot, but enough that I won't read anything in until something dramatic happens or we hit the trade deadline.

Gain experience.

6 IP in AAA so far this year, 18 career IP in AA.

We will agree to disagree.

The facts are:

yet have been playing losing baseball since April ended primarily because of the poor offense.

Yet have been playing winning baseball since June started, scoring more runs than giving up

see how we can pick arbitrary dates and form a view point from said arbitrary date?

its almost like you're using the terrible month of May to completely discredit this team, who outside of the month of May, have won more than they've lost.

I would argue he doesn't need much more, if any. His stuff is ready, and he's ready.

It’s really besides the point, but one month seems like an obvious Outlier no?

18-9

11-16

14-13

3-1

Maybe not such an arbitrary date after all.

Probably lower that walk rate by a decent amount.

His BB rate was fine in AA for as many batters as he was striking out. And he didn't even walk anybody in AA in June. Meanwhile, his AAA BB rate is heavily inflated by his first couple appearances.

His stuff is MLB ready.

you're saying they're playing losing baseball since a date that fits your narrative without acknowledging what else could have resulted in the outlier month.  6 of those losses were to pitchers not even on the MLB roster anymore (4 Strzelecki, 2 lauer).  is 11-16 even that bad?  if they dont have bad pitching for half of those 6 games they're .500.  Is it an outlier month still?

I don’t know man, you can have the last word. Time will tell if Hiura sees the majors again with the Brewers; all signs that seemingly matter say no.

If the team has no plans for him whatsoever, he is not in the organization anymore by trade or being let go and his salary is sunk cost.

They are being super stupid stubborn now, but I cannot believe that his Brewers future has been set already by Arnold and Counsell.

These are smart career baseball people; they are not being petty, stupid, stubborn etc.  Unless of course of you believe that a perusal of the stat sheets makes your opinion superior to theirs, which as a fan is certainly your right to believe

Also keep in mind, the AAA salary is now $360,000 a year. If the Brewers simply released Hiurs it would cost them not only his salary but another $360,000 because they’d have to fill an extra AAA roster spot.

Stubborn and stupid with Hiura…Unless you believe they are incapable of making a mistake.

He hit two balls yesterday over 112 mph for the grand total of one single

Who are we talking about? Hiura in AAA, Winker? He's seemed to have just BRUTAL luck this year. I could see two of the balls he hit being 112. The LD to RF.

I think the 10 days off for Tellez is going to be good for him.

I think if Winker had been a Brewer for a while, this fanbase would be much more confident in his ability to get it going(though he may just have broken down).

Hiura has done everything you possibly can to get another shot.
Rowdy was never prime Pujols, but he's been a solid hitter ever year of his career.

Sooner or later, they'll have to give up on at least one of them and inevitably watch a Florida team claim/sign them after clearing and then that player will hit well the rest of the year.

Really. In this very thread someone was speculating if Turang would be sent back down in favor of Jones.

When a team struggles to score runs it's easy--for some--to lose perspective.

I'm not sure that means people don't appreciate how good he's been defensively, likely just curious what they'd do with the roster with a guy who's had an outstanding year in AAA vs LHPing vs a who's struggling to stay above .200...even though I believe he's a net positive, I can see where that's coming from.

I feel like we said that for all of Rickie Week's career.

Fair enough, but at least with Weeks you got good offensive production. He may not have reached the lofty 40/40 potential I remember a BA write-up suggesting he was capable of, but his "disappointing" years he was at least getting on base and never looked as lost as Hiura did just getting beat by those Fastballs.

I'd be thrilled if 26 year old Hiura produced like Weeks did from 26-29 for the Brewers...even if it wasn't quite Sheffield without the attitude.
