Although they obviously have talent, clearly the reds weren’t going to maintain a team OPS around .900 with mostly rookies.  This should spur Arnold to get a couple hitters and promote a couple as well.  Maybe we get lucky and can take on LA/ ATL with the big three back and dealing.

I’m assuming we are not sellers now.     Unless we just get completely smoked by the braves reds and Phillies the rest of the month.

what hitters are out there.    Pretty much first second and third are upgradable and two outfield positions.       Can we upgrade two of those spots at a minimum?

Holy crap, that should have been a no-no. Not quite Jim Joyce costing that guy a perfecto but still...

Also, re: Turang. I'll take 2018 Arcia if we get playoff Arcia and maybe bunt if we're in one of those first and second, nobody out situations in the the 12th inning or whatever of a pivotal Game 4 NLCS.

Are you not aware of the tiebreaker rules?

Yes. However, it only matters if they tie 69 games from today. Maybe we can discuss this instead of if the Hader trade determined if the Brewers would have made the playoffs in 2022?

I’m still shocked at how much value Ruiz had in that deal … netted us Contreras & Payamps

Apparently the only way the A’s would part with their catcher was for Milwaukee to include their speedy unproven CF prospect Estury Ruiz

Everybody won that trade

Except the Athletics.

No, it matters now, too, because we effectively just gained two games on the Reds in one night and our playoff chances have risen as a result.

I believe they are happy with Estury Ruiz & having him in the lead off role for several years

He currently has a -0.1 WAR according to baseball references.

Unbelievable. Chances that may not come to fruition.

Ok.

They shouldn't be.  Especially since they gave up the best catcher in baseball.

Ruiz kinda stinks.

In the end, all I care about is winning the division and going to the playoffs. Winning the tiebreaker increases those chances in the here and now, regardless of whether we end up tied with the Reds at the end of the season. Tonight, we effectively won two games. Not that hard to understand.

However, in REALITY we only won one game on July 15, 2023. So says the standings, not that hard to understand. You do you.

I know they are human beings, but for gods sake, they are competitive pros competing for their very livelihood and a trade messed them up that bad? I just can’t believe that line of thinking.

Oh, I believe it (if you're talking about the immediate 6-7 days after the deal). I just think there was no excuse for it.

What I get particular enjoyment out of, is De La Cruz puts on the three-ring, three-steal circus last Saturday, and since then:

Donuts. For twenty-seven innings.

Pitching isn't like playing linebacker or power forward, where you can get pissed off & just annihilate people. But maybe a little embarrassment, which turned to anger, which turned to resolve. Whatever it is, it's fun to watch.

What a bizarre hill to die on. Especially after last season when that tiebreaker proved to be a huge difference in us missing the postseason.
