This was 100% inevitable.

Yup, and I'm happy to be done with him to be honest, however, I'd rather have him than Bauers.

A little disappointing but not unexpected. It seems like being a good but not great likeable first baseman equates to a short shelf life in Milwaukee.

Also, is Robert Murray tweeting from the future? Unless my calendar is broken, it's still the 17th, not the 18th.

A sad way to end such a great Brewers career.

But if you couldn't come to an agreement for a 2 year contract, I don't see what else you could've done.

I imagine they could still sign him as a free agent

At this point might as well have the payroll as low as possible since this team is starting a rebuild. Definitely trade Burnes and Devin and even Freddy if the right deal presents itself.

Just a stupid decision and a big indication that we are cutting payroll big time.

Stupid decision would've been paying a guy $11 million not to pitch this year. If they couldn't come to a contract or trade agreement, this was the only move.

Would you rather pay $20m with nothing remotely guaranteed performance wise?

I’d rather this sport gets a salary cap so we can compete.

What? We haven't been competing? And don't say WS because plenty of teams have competed and not won a WS.

We've won more games in the last 6 years than almost all of the big markets.

So you don't think a salary cap is a good idea then?

That didn't answer the question you were asked.

Also, look how well stockpiling injured pitchers worked out for the Dodgers just because they had money to 🔥

Wishing woodruff well - hope he can continue pitching at a high level somewhere, but tbh the odds are against that.

Looks like no one was interested, this is what I figured would happen

I’m sure plenty of teams were interested in making a trade. However, he would have needed to come to a contractual agreement with whatever team traded for him.

Why would Woodruff do that if he knew he was going to get non tendered? Just refuse to talk and wait to be a free agent and talk to every team.

That's not what I said?

The point is we have competed against the big markets despite the inherent disparity.
