With an option for 2025.  At 37, he's bound to have a dip sometime. Let's hope he's good for a while.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After spending the past month testing the waters in free agency, left-hander Wade Miley is coming back to the Brewers.

Miley on Monday agreed to a one-year deal with a mutual option for 2025. Terms of the deal were not announced, but MLB Network insider Jon Heyman said it's for $8.5 million. ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported the mutual option is for $12 million.

So basically he got his option money plus the chance at a little extra through innings-pitched incentives.

"My son said I had to play for the Brewers or retire," said Miley, whose wife is expecting another son in February. "So that was it."

Happy Meals in the clubhouse from now on...win the kids over and the players gotta stay.

Yeah he went from $10M to $1M buyout, $7M base, $1.5M buyout, so $9.5M plus potential incentives.

So basically $8.5 million guaranteed, plus another $2.5 million in incentives. He makes a little more than he would have with his original deal if he stays healthy and pitches well, and the Brewers save a bit if he doesn't. Not too bad all around.

Not quite. He got the buyout this season by declining the option and has another buyout next season. Had he taken the deal he'd have made $10 million. By turning it down and signing a new contract he makes his base salary of $8.5 + $1 buyout plus the $1.5 buyout for 2024. So he essentially made half a million more in guaranteed money plus a possible $2.5 more if he reaches his incentives.

I don't believe that if a player declines his option that a team has to pay the buyout.  I believe that the team only has to pay the buyout if the club option is declined.

Agreed... Burnes/Peralta/Miley is a nice start to the rotation.

From everything I've read he got his buyout.

I wouldn't count on Burnes. I think he gets traded.
