My best one includes Adames going their way as well (they need a SS and a bat at that).

Burnes/Adames for Harrison, Whisenhunt, Bart

SF gets the ace they want and can potentially resign with their deep pockets and desirable location.   Adames gives them the power bat they seek and the solid glove at Ss as well.

We get our ace of the future as well as a likely mid rotation starter in 1-2 years.   Bart is as good as we can do for backup catcher and the Giants need to get rid of him after their signing yesterday.

I like this trade and I think it makes sense for both teams. The Brewers get two top 100 pitching prospects and the Giants make a big splash after missing out on Ohtani. They’d have a good chance at resigning Burnes too.

This trade would require Burnes signing a long term contract with the Giants.  Without that you are only getting Whisenhunt, Bart and a lower level prospect.

Without this the Giants won’t make the trade.

Yeah, I agree with you.  While I would love to get Harrison and Luciano back in a deal for Burnes and Adames - I think the Giants would have to be able to sign a big contract extension with Burnes, and I severely doubt that happens - as I'm sure Corbin wants to hit the open market next winter before making a decision on his long term future.

Burnes just confirmed today that he would essentially need to be blown away by an offer in order to sign an extension before his free agency next winter... so that probably hurts the Brewers' leverage in trade talks as well.

From my proposal (Burnes and Adames for Harrison Whisenhunt and Bart) Bart is a throw in so nothing really to see there.  They get two guys that help them immensely winning now that they either resign or get 1-2 round picks for walking after a year.   Harrison and Whisenhunt should be attainable for the both traded together.

It is not without a guaranteed long term contract with Burnes.  You have to include that otherwise you won’t get Harrison.

Even with an extension Wisenhunt and Harrison are probably off limits.  I am not a huge Luciano fan but Wisenhunt and Luciano would be what I would try for. I do really like Reggie Crawford, Mason Black, Hayden Birdsong, Landen Roupp, Keaton Winn as 2n/3rd pieces.

Maybe the Giants would still be interested in Yeli as well after signing Lee.

I don't know that Harrison would be untouchable.  He has warning signs. Says he pitches to a lower arm slot.  He's at 31HRs given up the past 2 seasons in 215 IP.  87bbs in about 150IP at AA&AAA of those.  Not a great Fip sign.  Of course he can improve and be the ToR SP, but like the Dodgers prospects, he's pitched at the ML level, starting his service time, yet doesn't have a 120IP+ season to his name.  There goes 2 seasons right there counting on him for 30 starts and post season play without management and worries.

I dunno why SF would trade to compete with 1 year guys like Burnes and Adames.  Dodgers have loaded up, likely with another huge addition.  They should be targeting players with more than 1 season team control.  Luciano fwiw reads and profiles like an Adames only at 3b vs staying at SS. He has a higher k rate than I'd like to see with his results in the minors.  They suggest a .270+ hitter which he barely accomplished in the minors. I'd lower that expectation towards .250-255.  With PAs he appears a shoe-in for 20+HRs. That's all good but is that Burnes good?  With Harrison and Luciano being top 30 prospects, you're not getting both even including Adames.

Wisenhunt it says tested positive for performance enhancers in 2022 and suspended that year in college. Puts him behind the development curve. How does that translate if he tests positive again?

Giants do have high upside SPs  in Bryce Edwards and Reggie Crawford, who I suppose you could dream on while taking Luciano.  Kinda meh it can work out exceptional with Luciano-lotto.  It could also just be avg level bat/defense at 3b for 5+seasons.

Then they can have fun finishing third in the division. One year of a Cy Young caliber SP should still net us a massive return whether or not he signs an extension. I think the original proposal is more than fair if we are talking about both Burnes and Adames.

The Glasnow trade isn't comparable because his value is way less than people think due to his lack of durability.
