Badgers land linebacker transfer from USC. Was a top 50 recruit in 2023. Apparently another transfer or commitment is coming later on tonight.

Wow, they restocked that LB room quickly.  I know they wanted to rotate their LBs in/out a lot more than they did.  Going to be some competition in the ILB room.

Guessing;
1st string: Jaheim Thomas, Tackett Curtis
2nd string: two of Jake Chaney/Sebastian Cheeks/Christian Alliegro (Alliegro may move to OLB)
3rd string: Bryan Sanborn, Tyler Jansey

OLB:
1st string: Darryl Peterson, Aaron Witt
2nd string: John Pius, Jeff Pietrowski (or Alliegro)
3rd string: Leon Lowery, Lafaele/Heiberger

I could see Witt putting on 15 lbs now that he's healthy and moving to DE, given the shortage there.

IMO that would be a wise move, both for him personally & to help fill a void. QB pressure was sorely lacking, and I think Alliegro could make a difference there. Curtis is a big addition that I didn't see coming.

That'd still make him a pretty small DE...but I assume you're talking about when they're in their sub packages?

I'm not sure why they even say they run a 3-3-5. It's pretty much always a nickel front or more of a 4-3 look with a safety up near the LOS. He's work well as an edge in any of those. If they are going to play more stack, they need big bodies up there. A big ole' nose tackle and a couple of big DEs.,

In any event, they got two big time transfers for that front 7 in 24 hours, so IDC where Witt plays, just hope to see the kid healthy and rushing the passer.

Owen Riese approves of the new O Line coach:

I’m guessing we will see some more players portal once the depth chart shakes out this spring but I really wanted to see this one play for UW

"With utmost respect", instead of "With that being said". Gotta give the kid points for originality.

90% of the time I see these posts, does the kid actually think anyone cares about his copy/paste I am leaving sob story?

At this point there's probably a few journalism undergrads who have NIL deals and market these template posts to tranfer portal athletes on taskrabbit and Craigslist.

It's insane.

UW just got a commitment from 4 star WR Eugene Hilton. He is the son of former Colts WR TY Hilton.

At least for one year...

Longo has coached some of the best Wide Receivers in the game.  Hopefully that is what brought Hilton to Wisconsin.

Picking up Hilton gives Wisconsin the #12 recruiting class.  That is "only" 4th in the Big Ten, though.

Pretty sure they are number 4 in the nation as of today. Kind of wild. Hopefully they can put it together this year.

I saw that they were #4 overall on Rivals.  That is crazy.

247 Sports has them at 12.  on3.com has them at 19.  Not much consensus, but it is much better than the ~40-50 rankings we had before Fickell came in.

Can't deny Fickell & his staff are killing it in recruiting these days. But with the current climate I can't help but think "OK, we got so-and-so, but between now & when he shows up for his first practice, will someone offer him more?" Not to be a downer, but I'm seeing kids flip back & forth 2 or 3 times before setting foot on campus. When someone announces they're going to a certain school, what we need to do is come up with a different term. "Commitment" doesn't really fit anymore.

On the plus side, Clayton sounds like a heck of a good edge rusher.
