I read that the Yankees are looking to bolster their bullpen. Since we have so much depth I thought it would be a good idea to start a relief thread.

I doubt the Yankees would want Devin but Clay Holmes is maybe better suited for the 8th on a championship team.

Yankee ideas=

Replace Burnes to Yanks trades with Williams= I like Hampton, Lombard, Clayton Beeter

Payamps/Milner for Oswald Peraza, Carlos Legrange, and Danny Watson or Will Warren and Danny Watson

Wilson, Peguaro for 2 of the previous mentioned players (Peraza, Selvidge, Watson)

The Payamps/Milner deal gives us plenty of 2nd tier player value. Peraza has been solid in the minors (poor in the show), Lagrange is a young high potential guy, and Watson is a big funky reliever with solid results or the Warren/Watson deal gives us a higher end prospect closer to the bigs.

What are some other teams looking for relief help: Phily, Houston, Toronto, Texas, Mets, Cubs, Padres, mostly everyone hoping to have a good year.

I like some of these trades but I don't think the Brewers will make any at least not now.  Maybe they trade some of their bullpen pieces during the deadline if they are out of it.  The Brewers will be a very popular team during the deadline if they are out of it.  There are a lot of pieces available to be traded assuming the Brewers don't trade Burnes/Adames before the season and it doesn't look like they will be.

Why wouldn't the Yankees just go sign Hader, instead of having to trade prospects away for Williams?  It's not like the Yankees are strapped for $$.

Because Hader just signed with the Astros.

Ohhh......I've clearly been out of the loop this afternoon!  Had no idea!

OK, good to know.  Glad he's staying in the AL, and not going to the Cubs.

I'm fully in the camp that trading Williams now is the way to go. With 2 rather cheap years left and coming off another great season, the return is going to be good (For a reliever anyway). The next (hopefully) great Brewers team is going to be as the current crop of rookies and young players hit their stride, and Williams is only going to be there for the very early part of that. They're never extending him (And rightly so IMO), so cut the cord early while the return is good.

But I don't think that's what they're looking to do though. With Hader, there was trade chatter for years. Haven't heard a peep about Williams, other than speculation like mine that it would make sense. I don't mind the altnernative of having a top 3 closer finish out games for us a while longer, I just think it'd be better to cash in, as he'll be gone soon anyway. And if this team has shown anything, it's that they can find and develop relief pitching. And with Uribe, Payamps, Megill, Milner already there, and Misiorowski (I hope he sticks as a SP, but I doubt it) in the wings; and the pitching lab always there, it's an area of strength.
