Well, this is exciting. It looks like we'll have on-site coverage in AZ with full press access for two writers. We expect to cover 15-ish days in Arizona.

And I can't say the details quite yet but along with this access we have some exciting news coming so some of you can get off poor Matt Trueblood's back just because he likes the Cubbies. 😁

Fine I'll just rip on @Matthew Trueblood for going to North now.

This is awesome! Congratulations.

I don't have an issue with having Trueblood offer articles. I'm sure he's doing the best he can to remain objective, especially if he's a "reporter". But if he's simply a columnist/editorialist, I think it would be fun if he actually wrote about the Brewers from the perspective of a Cubs fan. It would be a great way to generate conversation. Of course, he would need to develop thick[er] skin.

Oh my, this would be hilarious.

Brock, gotta say, with McCalvy on the shelf and the continuing lack of a Brewers beat reporter for the Athletic, I'm pretty jazzed about this. Looking forward to the coverage and content and thank you!

That's a big reason why I've pushed so hard to try to make this happen. Brewers coverage is appalling bad. Hogg is obviously great but the list basically stops after him. It's super-aggravating. As someone who follows multiple teams and sees how much coverage other teams get (the Twins have TWO excellent writers at The Athletic, for example), the dearth of Brewers coverage irritates me.

It’s pathetic that the Brewers haven’t had an Athletic reporter since Sammon left what like 2 years ago?? Seems like they have zero interest in filling that spot.

Any chance this spring training press pass turns into a regular season press pass for fanatic?

The only news we're getting right now is coming from Rosiak, unless I'm missing someone.  It's pretty disappointing.

Rosiak or from the Brewers themselves. Hogg and Rosiak are splitting ST for MJS. McCalvy had eye surgery and is recovering from that. We don't have an Athletic reporter. It's a bit disappointing.

I wanted to thank everybody for being SO supportive during the last week of coverage. Personally, I am floored by Matt Trueblood's efforts in Phoenix. And I've been working with on-site coverage of ST for a decade now. He was cranking out content, chasing down interesting angles, and covering the ******* **** out of the Brewers.

*hat tip*

Jack Stern has a hard act to follow next week but I think he's up to the task.

Yeah Trueblood did a fantastic job. Honestly was just really nice getting articles from someone who seems to really understand the modern analytics side of the game. No disrespect to Rosiak but I feel like Trueblood's articles were exactly what I want from someone rather than the more surface level stuff he puts out.
