The Brewers can win the series this afternoon before heading to the Great American Smallpark to face the upstart Reds. Hopefully Rea is up to the task; based on early results this season, the Brewers might have to lean on him pretty hard this season.

The Brewers were the last remaining 1 loss team in MLB before conclusion yesterday ... and after the game we find ourselves 1 game out from last in the division. #NLCentral

5-2 is great, but scoring the 7th least amount of runs in baseball through 7 games (I know we have played 1 less game than almost all) isn't great.

Just win series though. Scratch out a win today and the start to the season record wise is smashing expectations.

So I guess Bauers is going to be a thing for a couple hundred at bats before they realize that he's terrible.

Yup, he's our guy, taking up a spot on the roster that someone else could be using.  It will take us into May to figure out he is 100% not an answer.

If he's playing every day, I'd rather have Black taking up those at bats.  Don't want Black playing DH all the time though, he needs to be in the field.

I think they feel they need to justify the trade. Avina was a serious top20 ish prospect who hit well in Carolina (800+ OPS) and was a year younger than average.

Sanchez had hit well in the DSL and was certainly and interesting project.

DFAing him in mid-April is admitting defeat and giving away 2 prospects to the Yankees for free.

Coincidentally to the Bauers talk, there’s an MLBTR article that just published about Belt only getting one weak offer from the Mets, who’ve since signed JDM and Belt was surpised by the lack of interest, so he must still want to play. He would make so much sense as a Bauers replacement. You know, a lefty 1B/DH but actually can hit MLB pitching

Man, whenever a guy gets trashed by our fan base I want him to do well so badly lol. Nice pick by the kid with the first batter. I hope he goes 3-4 for a bomb so this thread gets fewer replies ;)

Bauers is not a “kid” by baseball standards. He’s a 28 year old journeyman.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
