Heads up on scheduling for the holiday week.

In order to give every team across MiLB an opportunity to schedule a 4th of July-themed evening (or two) and take advantage of the gate receipts, instead of the six-game home series, we'll hearken back to days gone by with shorter series in multiple locations.

The DSL Brewers Dos are having perhaps their most impressive performance of their young season after winning yesterday's 2-1 nail biter vs their DSL Brewers Uno compadres. They just put up a four-spot in the bottom of the 8th and lead the (12-4) Cleveland Goryl 11-5 in the top of the 9th. Lotttttta spice in that DSL Brewers Dos Box. And, that game is now over - a 11-5 Brewers #2 victory. They move to 9-7 on the season. AND, what's more? We can highlight a Brewers Dos pitching performance from one 18-year-old Dominican RHP Wandy Cabrera for taking over in the 6th frame with a tight 5-5 ballgame on the scoreboard. He proceeded to fire his best work of his young season: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 5 K, 0 R picking up the 'W' and moving to 2-0 on the summer.

DSL Uno fall 6-1 to to the Orioles Orange (now 14-3 on the season).

17yo switch hitting second baseman Eric Martinez was the lone multi-hitter at 2 for 4, though Juan Ortuno, Engel Paulino and Danny Puerta each singled and walked to reach multiple times. Puerta also reached a third time via HBP.

Wande Torres pitched his second scoreless inning of the young season (2 H | 2 K) to open the game, while Luis Guevara went scoreless over the final two frames (3 H | 1 BB | 4 K).

Not sure if this was known but apparently the reason for Boeve being pulled a few days ago was a minor injury…..I know there was speculation

From McCalvy

Del Chiaro also loved that Boeve played 51 straight games before finally getting a day off last week. Boeve has been sidelined since then with a sore shoulder, but it’s benign enough that it is not expected to require a stint on the injured list.

Low-A Carolina hosts Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg this week. It’s good to see LF Yhoswar Garcia right back in the lineup after exiting mid-at bat in the 9th inning on Sunday. 18-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez has averaged 6.1 IP/game over his last 3 starts (19 IP, 4 ER, 12 Ks).

RHP Manuel Rodriguez with an uncharacteristic 3-1 count to open the first frame. He then leaves a heater at the top of the zone dead CF and the Lynchburg lead-off smacks a double to the left CF gap. Ground out to 2B for his first out advancing the runner to 3B. One down. 0-0. Man on 3rd.

The younger Chourio with a sac fly to RF. Lynchburg leads 1-0. Two down. Five lefties and four switch-hitters in this Lynchburg line-up tonight. Rodriguez is going to have to work for everything.

Di Turi singles past a diving SS. Steals 2B. Yophery Rodriguez then takes a K looking at a 3-2 pitch but is gifted first base. That was what we call a generous miss by the home plate ump. Pratt to the dish (hitting 0.341 over his last 10 games) and is quickly in an 0-2 count. Zero outs. 1-0 Lynchburg. Men on 1st and 2nd.

Pratt works the count 2-2 and goes down swinging on an off-speed offering (looked like a change-up by my eyes) low and outside below the zone. Fooled on that pitch.

Mudcats stranded the bases full. Elevated Clemmey's pitch count to 28. BUT, struck out three times. I will say, I can very very much see why Clemmey is a highly thought of 18-year-old lefty. At  6'6" he has 2700 spin on his off-speed stuff. It moves horizontally and vertically. He touches 96-97 but with his extension probably arrives more like 99-100. This is a really raw but tantalizing tool kit for the Guardians.

It would appear he is actually not in the line-up. So, we are still on injury alert.

Rodriguez is hanging pitches. And, he is getting hit hard and often early. Two balls off the wall - a stand-up triple and a stand-up double -  in right field. Mudcats trail 2-0. Zero outs.

Manuel gets the pop out to the shallow RF grass to Di Turi (2B), a fly out to Walling in RF. The runner advanced to 3B. AND, just like that, Rodriguez hangs an inside belt high breaking ball that is smacked off the wall. That's 4 XBH's off Rodriguez early. Lynchburg is all over his stuff. He is hanging a lot of meat. 3-0 deficit.

He hangs another ball in a 2-2 count dead center at the top of the zone. It is lined very sharply to Diaz at 1B. He got lucky there. He just isn't sharp whatsoever. Too many pitches seeing way too much of the heart of the plate. 3-0 and we head to the bottom of the 2nd.

Clemmey struggles with consistent control. BUT, he's 18 years old and he already absolutely has Ace stuff in his bag. You can absolutely see why the Guardians targeted in the high portion of last year's draft. Three up and three down for the Mudcats in the 2nd. Clemmey grabbed his 4th K to boot on a gorgeous off-speed pitch for the K looking.

Two down. A 1-2 count. Rodriguez hangs another off-speed delivery up in the zone. He gives up his fifth hit already. A line drive single into RF. Just not sharp. An uncharacteristic outing.

Pratt smacks an oppo single through the 1B/2B gap. That breaks a 7 consecutive batters retired streak for Clemmey. Two down. That's the 2nd Mudcats hit. They trail 3-0. Bottom 3. Two down. Pratt on 1B.

Through 4 IP, the Mudcats bats are getting absolutely dominated by 18-year-old Alex Clemmey. 2 H (groundball singles), 2 BB (both in the first), 6 K. Castillo goes down looking at a 3-2 inside breaking ball. May have been off the plate. He may have gone around anyway. Clemmey is such an intriguing prospect.

OF/1B Reece Walling hit a jam shot ground out to 2B in the fourth frame. Leaving 1B he can be seen rotating his right arm is if he may have gotten some kind of stinger action on the ground out? Play begins at roughly 1:57:45 for those interested. Didn't look like much. BUT, he had also backed up into the wall on one of those second inning rockets off the RF wall. Hopefully he's ok!

After getting hit for an infield goose snort to open the 5th frame and seeing that runner swipe 2B, Rodriguez then gets the strike him out and throw him out. Chourio then flies out to Mercado to end the threat. It definitely looks that despite getting hammered for XBH's early, Rodriguez is going to have yet another shot at a Quality Start. Uncanny.
